AReed Deep For 7 Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 as a bills fan trying to cling onto anything good that can come out of this year, this video fired me up!!! the dude is ivy league out of control smart, killing the wunderlic (or however its spelled) and clearly is a leader on the team. it gave me chills up my spine watching this dude get rowdy... even if hes not the long term answer, i would love to have him mentor and rub off on the qb of the future

muffmonster Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 The Bills pro shop needs to sell a "fitz beard" we can all stick to our faces at home games. That thing is awesome. I want one for the Steelers game! It would double as a face warmer as well. Too bad I don't have a Fitz jersey to complete the look.
ofiba Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Brady fired up This video is of Brady against Pitt last week after they were stopped on a 3rd down attempt. And they were winning the game easily. Maybe it's the hair or the fact that I hate the Pats, but it looked more like a temper tantrum to me.
stony Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 He's actually a big dweeb. And it's awesome. I love the unconventional way about him, an aura that seems so right in Buffalo I suppose. Seeing stuff like this and knowing the Bills are at least one more year of drafting and FA away of sniffing the playoffs, makes it easier to swallow knowing he could be our starting QB for the next 1-2 years. I'm truly glad for his success. Couldn't happen to better guy it seems.
ChasBB Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 I don't know if it needs it own thread, but it was awesome listening to Fitz during the game. The guy gets fired up, congratulates the opposing team on a good hit, gets his teammates amped, makes blocks downfield, etc. I can on;y imagine what Trent was like. It makes TO's comments regarding Fitz that more clear. How was he not the starter long ago? Are we that bad at evaluating talent? With picks like Maybin and McCargo I'd say the answer is yes. Modrak has to go Yes, it deserves its own thread -- thank you! Also, to anyone who doesn't think Fitz is a leader, all you have to do is look at that block he threw -- really laying it on the line there. Also, early in the vid, the guy takes one, perhaps two brutal hits. He's a tough SOB. That defines leadership right there.
John from Riverside Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 First off the best part of that video was the looks on all the Bills fans faces after Detroit scored on 4th down late in the game. They all had that big smile like "it's happening again" face we have all grown too much accustomed to. A As for Fitz, yes he is a good short term QB, but I don't see the over the top leadership everyone talks about. Jim Kelly showed more heart and excitement on the sidelines as a spectator a few years ago when he was caught on camera. And if you want to see what a true get in your face, rah rah team leader is, watch Tom Brady, and I despise the guy like diarrhea, but he has the ultimate passion for winning. Kelly and Brady have what I want to see back on the Bills sidelines. Every Bills player in that video sounded like they were out having a casual get together. Brady fired up This video is of Brady against Pitt last week after they were stopped on a 3rd down attempt. And they were winning the game easily. There are different ways to lead a team. I personally love the way Fitz leads this team. Do I wish he were a more accurate QB? Yes but if he was we probably would not have been available to us in the first place cause I think that is the only thing that keeps Fitz from being a pro bowl QB. You can see from the video that he leads with a quiet confidence and has the respect of his teamates.....he puts himself out there and throws the block....his offensive linemen love him.....his wide receivers love him. If people would just look at it objectively.....he is NOT the reason why they are losing this season. Our defense is. Part of me hopes this team goes on a bit of a run at the end of the year moving us down to 3-4 in the draft...making the pick easier to trade out of......we need pass rush help with that first pick and a solid RT like Carimi with the next......we need a Tight End....and we need linebackers...... Draft a developmental project in the 3rd round at QB or bring in one of these guys that Chan has made look servicable in the past. That way we have progress to biuld on for next year AND we still get immediate help in the offseason.
Geno Smith's Arm Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 (edited) Hahaha! That was nothing like what I expected. It's funny in a weird way. He seems so casual about it all. I'm not sure what to make of Fitz now. He isn't real intense. but he is so much looser than I pictured him. He is kind of nerdy! But not in a bad way, almost in a Frank Reich-ian way . I am gonna have a whole new perspective when watching him play this Su nday. Edited November 19, 2010 by Matthews' Bag
reddogblitz Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 (edited) Roger Staubach was mentoring Colt McCoy while he was at Texas. Roger told him that the thing he needed to work on was leadership. He said it is the most important attribute a QB can have, more important than anything else. Fitz has the leadership. He has the respect of the OLine which a QB needs. They will follow him into the war of an NFL game. There is a famous ex-poster who in preseason said Trent was having fun playing football again. I'm not real sure about that, but Fitz sure seems to get a kick out of the game. He's tough. The hits he takes. At least one of those monster hits they showed he completed a pass off of. I'd like to see us win 3 or 4 out of the last 7 and then try to add some guys to build around Fitz and make a run at this. We can try to find the next QB in the meantime. He's already better than a lot of QBs in the league. He's better than both guys that played tonight (Cuttler and Pigpen) and a lot of others. Great video. Edited November 19, 2010 by reddogblitz
T master Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 After watching that video and what Gailey has said about the guy i don't see how you can't give the guy one more year at the helm . He is a true Buffalo Bill type player in every way shape & form . We are the team that every body always see's as the underdog so is Fitz . He's a blue collar guy always giving 110 percent - always looking to improve - always fighting & never giving up !! Sure he may not be a Dan Marino but i think the team will circle the wagons with this guy any day . And what happens if he does just continue to get better that's kind of scary !! You can always groom another QB to be ready (Arron Rogers) With Fitz we don't need to do anything stupid & have the luxury of breathing room !!!
Buffalo Barbarian Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 So should we stand up or sit down when it's time for a big play? Man I always stand up when things are tight, I don't know how they sit down at all.
Doc Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 If I were Fitz, I'd seek out Vick's QB coach in the off-season and pay him to help him work on his mechanics. The improvement in Vick's accuracy is amazing.

For every RAH RAH you get from Brady you also get pissy tantrums and sideline pouting. You gotta take the lows with the highs, and Brady's always oscillating back and forth. I'll take an even-keeled, always positive, always in control type guy like Fitz ANY day.

I think he got pissed and out of control for at least that one ridiculously hard throw to S johnson. Whatever Brady has been doing seems to have worked for a pretty long time, and Fitz has one win this season.

Also, I hadn't realized The Bills schedule read: 09/12 Fitzpatrick vs MIAMI DOLPHINS 09/19 Fitzpatrick @ Green Bay Packers 09/26 Fitzpatrick @ New England Patriots 10/03 Fitzpatrick vs NEW YORK JETS 10/10 Fitzpatrick vs JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS 10/24 Fitzpatrick @ Baltimore Ravens 10/31 Fitzpatrick @ Kansas City Chiefs 11/07 Fitzpatrick vs CHICAGO BEARS (Toronto) 11/14 Fitzpatrick vs DETROIT LIONS 11/21 Fitzpatrick @ Cincinnati Bengals 11/28 Fitzpatrick vs PITTSBURGH STEELERS 12/05 Fitzpatrick @ Minnesota Vikings 12/12 Fitzpatrick vs CLEVELAND BROWNS 12/19 Fitzpatrick @ Miami Dolphins 12/26 Fitzpatrick vs NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS 01/02 Fitzpatrick @ New York Jets
BigRedMarauder6 Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 That was awesome! I think we're staring our franchise QB right in the eyes Bills fans. He has the respect of his team, his coaches, and the fans. It's a nice feeling having faith in a guy to carry this offense. You add a talented RT and TE into the mix, and we've got ourselves a solid offense! Amen! Fitz is it. He's our guy! I think he got pissed and out of control for at least that one ridiculously hard throw to S johnson. Whatever Brady has been doing seems to have worked for a pretty long time, and Fitz has one win this season. Matt Cassell went 10-6 for NE. It's not all about Tom there. He doesn't even have to think about a pass rush...

I am a Fitz SUPPORTER! I just think that putting down Brady for jus about ANYTHING is kinda silly. Especially when comparing himto a guy that hasn't accomplished much YET. Amen! Fitz is it. He's our guy! Matt Cassell went 10-6 for NE. It's not all about Tom there. He doesn't even have to think about a pass rush... I am a Fitz supporter! I have been mentioning in multiple threads that Fitz has been getting hit ALOT, especially right after he throws, that it accounts for some of his inaccuracies, and that Tom Brady, when playing against a pass rush like the one Fitz faces every game, poops his pants! What else do you want? You want me to say "Fitz is better than that cry-baby Tom Brady, the 3-time Champion, league MVP, etc. quarterback"? Get real.
DrDawkinstein Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 (edited) glad to see this thread. they had the mic'ed up clip on on the TVs at lunch but no sound. I was about to come here to make a thread about it. I LOVE the Wood chest bump after the big block!! Edit: I'll also say that as much crap as Kelsay gets for being a crappy OLB who cant pursue or tackle, at 2:25 in that video, during the Freddie Jackson Shovel Pass TD replay, "Big Name" Julian Peterson is as ineffective as Kelsay. Cynical Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 How was (Fitz) not the starter long ago? Are we that bad at evaluating talent? With picks like Maybin and McCargo I'd say the answer is yes. Modrak has to go. Not quite sure how Modrak, the VP of College Scouting, decides who gets to start. But thanks for the thread anyway.
