The Poojer
not sure if she was mentioned but...Neko Case...either solo stuff or with New Pornographers....not really lesser known, but if you include Grace Potter in the list, then Ms. Case belongs here as well some amazon recommendations after my recent selections: KT Tunstall, Missy Higgins, Grace Potter and (how could i have forgotten)Gillian Welch. The Dean
One of my favorite songs. I know virtually nothing about Natsuki Morikawa, but she does a terrific job here:

The Dean
Van Morrison's dauther, Shana Morrison, singing with the fabulous guitarist/vocalist Roy Rogers. (Audio quality gets a bit spotty, but it is worth a listen.) Shana sometimes plays at San Francisco's Cafe du Nord (a great spot for music, where Lavay Smith and The Red Hot Skillet Lickers used to play almost every week). Here's a little something from there: Edited November 20, 2010 by The Dean

Still on page 2 for me. But she would have been mentioned earlier if she was better known.
ajzepp
Still on page 2 for me. But she would have been mentioned earlier if she was better known. Oh man, her voice is *amazing*...I have all her records, one or two of which are live recordings from small, intimate shows she did before her death. I could listen to her all day. A lot of people have heard her version of "Over the Rainbow", they just don't know her by name.

ajzepp
I love her version of Songbird... first heard it in the great Love Actually. May she RIP. lol, that's the film I remembered it from, too. I honestly never knew who she was until a few years ago, but now I listen to her all the time. Her "Live at Blues Alley" album is fantastic, as are most of her others. It's really a shame she lost her life so young...what a beautiful voice.
