Buffalo Barbarian Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 After watching the Pats-Steelers game it is obvious that football needs a new helmet design. It is clear that the Helmet to helmet hit on Hines Ward was unintentional but yet still took him out of the game. There should be a high density foam layer on the outside so that the blows both given and received are not as devastating. As it stands know its like slamming to ball-peen hammers together but if you hit two soft faced hammers together there would still be a big impact but wouldn't be as severe. This would go a long way in protecting the players now and after they retire.

Mark Kelso/ProCap Helmets Actually, helmet engineering has come a long way since the primitive ProCap foam cover that Keslo and Beebe wore 16 years ago...
