You're the third person to date I will say this to. I sincerly apologize for waiting until 1979 to be conceived. I will really try harder next time. I understand that by being 24, and not <however old you are> my opinion on things cannot be nearly as relevant or even important. Again, I apologize. I'll swim faster next time.

So using this excuse for your immaturity has worked two other times I guess. Nice, lucky you. Good luck with the reincarnation swim. Open your eye's next time while swimming through life. Sometimes things are not what they seem, especially in other parts of, say, Florida. :D

I'm sure there are too. My entire point is that the fact that sales tax went from 8 to 9.25% isnt the worst thing that could happen. Especially in a place that is so inexpensive to live (as far as housing itself).

It is nothing more than a continuing pattern of mediocrity and your attitude is the reason it moves on unabated.

I remember when it went from 6% to 7%. The excuse was the same.

I see your point. If nothing is done now, when will it ever stop. But then again, how many people said they would never pay $2 for a gallon of gas? Think bike sales are going to go through the roof when it hits $3? I doubt it. Its this lazy American attitude mixed with an apathetic attitude (I'd rather pay the 1% extra to not have to do anything, than protest to try to stop it) that is doing it. I am not helping because I feel that way. I guess if it had gone from 6% to 9.25%, more people would notice or care. So I guess as long as government is going to f-ck us, if they do it gradually, and not all at once, we'll accept it. Sucks, but that's how it is - and probably always will be.

Well....just try the bay area! $500k for a 2br/1bth; Sales tax at 8.25....Incomes, however, to support the insanity. I would love to drop my $.5mil on a place in WNY. Problem is that I can't replace my job/income in WNY. I'll stay in SF for now and hopefully retire (part time) in Buffalo.

I live in Pittsburgh and I think PA has the best package of lower taxes and best infrastucture...schools, police and the like. incomes are better than BFLO too.

I also lived in florida and I had more $ in the paycheck but schools and town services sucked so bad that you have send your kids to private school (at least $12,000K a year per student). Florida is a nice place to visit....

Didn't we have a similar conversation when the price of stamps went up? What's a few percent?

153549[/snapback]

lol....effective on or around Jan 1st....

my health care is going up $40.00 per month

my cable is going up $8.00 per month.

stamps are going up 4 cents per

my property taxes are going up $136.00 per year

Telephone is going up $3.50 per month

I have to now choose if I want a variable or fixed RGE rate..either way it'll go up

Price of gas has now reached 2.09 per gallon at the cheapest station around

....but, it's all just small percentages right? :D

Lots of people have noticed and care - which is the reason so many no longer live there.

As far as the price of gas, it's still relatively cheap when indexed against inflation vs a tax that has increased by 50% over the same period.

I am currently a junior in college studying elementary education, and I am one of the few who is going to make an attempt to get a job and raise a family here.

Probably about 70% of the people in my major say, "I'm moving to florida or the carolinas to teach to get out of this city."

I say screw that. I was born and raised here and there is nowhere else I'd rather live. Ya the economy isnt doing so well but the people are great and I want to raise a family in this area and send my boys to st. francis like me.

Permitting i get a solid job, I will be here for the rest of my life.

Well technically, this entire thread could move to the consumer forum since it's about SALES tax! :D

Apex, North Carolina. Just outside of Raleigh.

Taxes aren't bad. Economy is booming.

3.8% unemployment here in the Triangle.

Best Fall weather in the country.

Spring doesn't suck either.

Good local Buffalo Bills fan club.

Panthers play NFL games in a stadium only 2.5 hours away.

See, if you don't tax people and companies to death, companies will move there and hire people.

It is not that hard to figure out.

I loved Buffalo, but finding good jobs in the web design/multimedia field there isn't that easy.

Here I have good jobs in that field for 10 years.

Only been to Tennessee once, but I liked it.

Memphis is centrally located, 20 minutes to the casinos and you're not in Nashville dealing with all the Titans fans mentioning the MCM every five bleepin' minutes.
