Magox
Interesting. More self-identified gay voters chose the GOP in the midterm elections than in previously recorded totals, according to a CNN exit poll. Thirty-one percent of self-identified gay voters cast their ballots for Republicans on Tuesday, 4 percentage points more than in 2008, according to a similar CNN exit poll. In 2006, 24 percent of gay voters chose the GOP, and 23 percent in 2004. Man, Obama is losing everyone.
LeviF
Interesting. Man, Obama is losing everyone. The properly vetted (that was just for you, Magox ) candidates running on the Republican ticket weren't talking about so-called "social issues." They were talking about the one thing people (read: all people) needed to hear them talk about. That being said, this sort of thing doesn't surprise me. Gene Frenkle
How many closeted gay-bashing Republican Senators and Congressmen have we seen outed in some scandal over the years? How many are never outed? I think you're seeing a combination of "gayness" becoming more accepted and mainstream and a movement of the Right away from its Christian Fundamentalist base - finally. Maybe people have no more control over being left or right than they have over being straight or gay.

The biggest flaw the Republicans have is: they can't talk about government intrusion fiscally, and then support it socially. And, the Fundamentalists are not known as small government people either. They want farm subsides, etc. Also, I am not sure I want people who have a bad habit of presuming that they speak for God being in charge of anything. But, then again, the Republicans weren't the ones who started the gay marriage fight, and the rest of the fights. The Democrats calculated that they could use these issues as a way to regain power. They used gay people, and their rights, as a political tool. And, the Republicans need to realize that in this day of people winning elections by 400 votes, they need everybody. It seems that if the economy is doing well, the minority party always uses social issues to try and weaken the majority. The minority party has been the Democrats, hence they keep starting trouble. Perhaps, one day, the people involved in whatever social issue is being used, will wake up, and realize they are being used. The only way you can win on any social issue is with bipartisan support. Example: the civil rights movement would have gotten nowhere, nowhere at all, without Republican support. And please, don't come back with some weak ass **** equating opposition of federally sanctioned monogamous butt-piracy to gay-bashing.

Peace
My favorite of these anti-homo homosexuals at the moment is the Michigan Assistant Attorney General. That guy is drawing swastikas on the UMich student body president accusing him of promoting homosexuality...at the same time, if you think this Michigan Assistant AG doesn't dream of men, you're loco. http://www.myvido1.com/QUUpFbPRVU6FGWo90YYVUP_michigan-assistant-ag-bullies-gay-colleg (jump ahead to see this guy...you think it's a surprise that he's on with Anderson Cooper?) If you've not been following this story, you will think the anti-gay guy is actually the gay guy. Edited November 5, 2010 by Peace
IDBillzFan
If you've not been following this story, you will think the anti-gay guy is actually the gay guy. That was truly bizarre. I wouldn't have blamed Cooper one bit if he just blurted out, "Look, not for nothing, but gaydar is off the charts right now."
OCinBuffalo
You can't buy KY when you don't have a job. That made for a cranky electorate. Careful, you are all about to get called bigots, homophobes and every other name in the book, so that certain tools can feed their need to feel morally superior. You do have an out though: if you say you are for gay marriage, then you can make all the gay jokes you like.

Even after we elected a black man president of the US, we're apparently still a bunch of predominantly and overwhelmingly white crackers who hates the brothers. Or so I keep hearing. I wouldn't have blamed Cooper one bit if he just blurted out, "Look, not for nothing, but gaydar is off the charts right now." I almost wonder if that's why this guy is getting so much face time--he's completely flamingly gay, much like Larry Craig. When I first saw that guy interviewed, I just assumed the TV had the caption wrong and he was the guy who was being attacked. It won't be long before he gets caught with a dong in his mouth. It doesn't need to be a subjective thing. What are the current demographics for voters who identify themselves as Republican? I don't know the numbers, but that would be as clear as it gets.
