jscap Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 According to a friend working over @ 1BD, the Bills put a claim in on Merriman. Not sure when it becomes official.
ajm Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Jay Glazer just tweeted the same thing, citing 2 sources saying the Bills are going to put in a claim.
K-9 Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 (edited) According to a friend working over @ 1BD, the Bills put a claim in on Merriman. Not sure when it becomes official. According to league rules, it can't be official until the 4pm deadline whereupon the club that gets him makes the announcement. My question is, since the Bills have first claim, why can't they just announce it early? Kinda like having the first pick in the draft and being able to negotiate with a player before hand. I mean, there's just no mystery here if the Bills put in a claim. On another note, I wonder how long before Merriman would be in a position to help the team. GO BILLS!!! dhg Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 At the very least, the guy should bring some attitude. Something our D currently lacks.
jscap Posted November 3, 2010 Author Posted November 3, 2010 Per Twitter... Jay_Glazer Jay Glazer If Bills put in the claim they get him bc of waiver order. Nothing official yet but 2 sources say they are doing it. See if they follow thru
DDD Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Calling Never Give Up. Calling Never Give Up. Can you confirm or deny?
Andy Rooney Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 If its true, whats he get. 1.7 Mill for the rest of the year then what?
Doc Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 If its true, whats he get. 1.7 Mill for the rest of the year then what? He's an UFA. I don't know if I like this move, if it happens.
Buffalo Barbarian Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 When shawne gets healthy will finally have premier pass rusher. He still is young and should get back to full health, even if he is 90% it's way better than what we have.
cantankerous Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Who cares the cost...the Bills have money.
Numark Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 I just wish we could resign him after this year.
Punch Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 I just wish we could resign him after this year. If Nix has already spoken to Merriman as Glazer reported then I'm sure the subject of a longterm possibility was broached. Unless it's purely a "PR" move.
tbonestake Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 FINALLY!!! Someone who can mentor Maybin on the benefits of steroid usage!
nucci Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 I just wish we could resign him after this year. Let's see if he can still play first.
ACor58 Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 FINALLY!!! Someone who can mentor Maybin on the benefits of steroid usage! That is exactly what I was thinking!
tbonestake Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 That is exactly what I was thinking! Great minds think alike my brotha
Kettle Creek Football Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 I think each team that puts a claim in has to indicate which round draft pick from next year they forfeit. So the Bills might put a claim in for a 7th rounder, for eg, but if another team puts in a 6th or better, they would get them. I think.

That's supplemental draft, not waivers like this. if we want him, we get him.
