NyQuil Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 I wonder how mnay tickets they will have to give away this year.
San-O Posted November 3, 2010 Author Posted November 3, 2010 Still beating the dead horse I see. I suppose having the Bills play in a great American city like Los Angeles is so much better? You act like playing in Toronto is why the Bills suck. You will see, Toronto will be the reason why the Bills have a shot at staying in Western New York. PTR Well, the horse isn;t dead: there is a game in Toronto this weekend. My orginal post was more intended to focus on the Toronto game and attendance then anything else. If selling games keeps the Bills in Buffalo, great. I can tell you one thing, the L.A. area will not support a loser. See Rams and Raiders.
Mr. WEO Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Oh and here's something for those who think the Bills are bulletproof. Note what team is listed first... Gov. Schwarzenegger signs bill for L.A.-area stadium construction PTR You're joking, right? This article is a year old. How's that stadium coming along? The guy who is pretending to build it will only do so if he is allowed to own a big chunk of the team. LA is a non-starter. Of all the post I've ever read, this is by further 100% truth, without southern Ont. there are no Buffalo Bills. I can't understand why most people can't get that through their head. 1 or 2 games in toronto, is better then 8 to 10 in LA. Thank you Russ for understanding what a million WNY can't. The people in "southern Ontario" obviously aren't filling the Rogers center for those Bills games. It's obvious they would rather watch them in the Ralph. SO what is your point? Embarrassing turnouts in Toronto to watch crappy games will keep the Bills in WNY? That's a completely unconvincing argument. No wonder "a million WNY" don't agree with you.
akm0404 Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 If the Bills move, they are going to move because of Ralph's succession plan, not because of a bunch of games played in Toronto. Don't be blinded by Wilson and Brandon's spin machine - the reason for the Bills playing their games in Toronto is because of the CASH MONEY they received to sell their home games (and the associated competitive advantage therein). The Bills have long cultivated relationships with nearby communities. You won't see a Bills game played at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse to build regional interest in the team. But you would see it if someone flashed Ralph another pile of money. "But selling our home games for cash and having them played on the moon is better than them taking the Bills from us! THEY CANT TAKE THE BILLS FROM US!" Competitive advantage in actual meaningful games (not just for us, but we're playing actual decent teams here) sold for cash money. Selling a free field goal to the Patriots in December isn't really much of a stretch from here. You should feel sick about this. Yet nobody really does, because everyone has the "we don't deserve the Bills in Buffalo because we suck so bad please don't take them we'll do anything" defeatist attitude.

Perhaps the Bills have paid lip service to the notion of regionalizing the fan base in Ontario and beyond, but Ralph has literally said from the start that playing games in Toronto was about money. Not sure where to find the "spin".

jimmy10 Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Did people get this upset when Green Bay used to play games in Milwaukee? Or is that different, because this is "ZOMG, a forrin' country"?
akm0404 Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 (edited) Did people get this upset when Green Bay used to play games in Milwaukee? Or is that different, because this is "ZOMG, a forrin' country"? Do you honestly think that is anywhere close to what the Bills are doing? Here are two major differences to consider: 1) Milwaukee is full of absolutely ravenous fans and is home to the majority of Packers ticket buyers. 2) The cash monies. But sure, this is absolutely the same thing. Heck, the Bears played games in Urbana while they built their stadium. OMG SEE????!!!! Edited November 4, 2010 by akm0404
