clearwater cadet Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 If it's ok to plug in Davis and Tober, I would be ok with Merriman. He is expected to be placed on waviers today.

Just a hunch, but perhaps that's why they passed on Gibson from the Steelers? If he's got ANYTHING left in the tank he might help us for a year. Just a thought. GO BILLS!!!
Bangarang Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Buddy Nix couldn't possibly be any worse at linebacker at this point.
dayman Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 There is simply no reason to not bring him in even if we cut him. We haven't cut McCargo yet...it's idiocy to suggest this guy shouldn't get a shot on the Bills...

What type of defense do the chargers play, and where would Merriman fit in for the bills? However now that I think about it, even if we bring Merriman in, why did they pass on Gibson? aristocrat Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 they should have picked up gibson and should pick up merriman. we have no pass rush and our def line ties up the line but the lb's just aren't getting to the hole's and the rb ends up with decent runs. i have heard merriman has a crazy work ethic and maybe he could mentor a guy like maybin(forever optimist) so for maybin's sake I hope we sign him.
The Wang From Sang Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 This is a future leader of the defense. No brainer, even if he has to sit out the year to become 100%

I think the obvious answer is that the brain trust, especially Whaley, feels that Gibson doesn't bring much, if anything more, than the current group which has had the benefit of time in the system. It's not like Gibson is a savvy vet that can easily adapt to new systems whereas Merriman certainly knows the game far better at this point. GO BILLS!!!
clearwater cadet Posted November 2, 2010 Author Posted November 2, 2010 The Bills don't even consider bring him in. The front office will act like they don't even know he's on out there. For the 3 million it would cost to sign him, they would sell 3 million in Merriman Jeresys by Sunday.
K Gun Special Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 the guy has played 18 games since 2007 and is injury prone since taking roids. Why add nearly $2million in salary for him?
Malazan Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Merriman is a no miss pickup! Just like McNabb was! Could imagine the howling on this board if McNabb came here and played poorly enough to be benched.
