Everything has to have a price, everything can be won. Everyone is at each other's throats for position, willing to do whatever it takes. pop culture....need I say more......just stinks. Two party system where neither party cares about anything but power. Is there any decency left? Look at our society- the minority has projected our image for the past few years, and it is an image of instability, and a complete lack of morality. How long before the backlash from the majority causes another backlash, and the instability becomes cataclysmic. I fear very soon the Constitution will have to be suspended, as we have outgrown the rights it provides......Yes, our forfathers probably were much smarter than us, but they could not have forseen what we would become. A nation of cupcakes if you ask me. The excesses in this country are obscene. We spend bazillions on stuff like Viagra, Cialis etc. while children around the world die for lack of basic inoculations. Shoot, children in our own country lack basic food, housing, clothing and education. And we sniff "hey, we can't take care of the world" and then viciously lash out at each other for not being Christian enough. Frankly I always like to look for the good in people and do believe that in the end "good" triumphs. But I am not smug or stupid enough to believe that because this is America, we are "good". I would never ever completely judge anyone without meeting them face to face and actually talking with them and getting to know them. And even after a reply like that I would still reserve complete judgement on you until I had the chance to meet you and talk. As of right now I feel I barely know you. I’m meeting Tennyboy in a couple of weeks for a Grouper sammich and a couple of beers. Her on the other hand……………… 155915[/snapback] I guess in my case it is from all those years cooking professionally for people. At that time my number one goal was only to make people happy regardless of who or what they were. Everyone becomes someone you care for and will litteraly bleed, sweat and cry for. I have cooked for some people in my time that really upset me, but I never did anything to their food other than to make it look and taste better than anything they ever had. If the world were more like a restaurant on a busy Saturday night............ many times I told a server to fu** off, and get the fu** out of my kitchen at 8:00pm and we were buying each other drinks and laughing about the whole incident at 10:00pm. But my waitress kept bringing me the wrong orders. First she brought a Caesars salad, when I asked for a Chef salad. Then she brought a me Shrimp Cocktail when I ordered Steak tar tar. Then she brought a Filet, instead of the Lobster tail I ordered. Then to top it off, she brought me Jell-O, instead of the Chocolate cake I ordered. I think I’d have a hard time having a couple of Pops with her after that. But that’s just me. Just funnin Jim, I see your point. I hope you see mine. If anyone wants to know what really goes on in a professional kitchen, read Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain. Be warned though, you may never dine out again. I guess we get the leadership we deserve. However that isn't to say that every individual can't do their part to make their little part of the world a little better. In fact that's all one can do. But if everyone did it, collectively things would improve some.
