A long time ago at a point almost beyond memory there was a Jets coach named Parcells with his handy defensive coordinator Bellicheck who ruled the defensive game plans and adaptations of the NFL better than any tandem. Superbowl twenty five was one thing when they begged the Bills to throw in their egos and run the ball against two rushing linemen. It worked to perfection and the better team lost. Any diehard Bills fan knows exactly what I am talking about or at least has the ability because each one of us has the tape but has yet to actually watch it. Bellicheck also slowed down our might Flutie when he was on a roll when he was with the Jets. That blueprint worked for a couple of games but he eventually figured it out, but I digress.

This coming game against a strong defensive coordinator who has provided dramatic improvement to a defense that was ranked near the bottom in almost every category last year, will tell us alot about Fitz and the offense. Doing something successfully once is not easy but doable, but doing it two weeks in a row when the defense has heard the hype about the successes we have had is another. They are not going to be surprised and they have studied the tendencies. The talk about not drafting a quarterback, Johnson as diamond in the rough who is getting much closer to diamond than rough, the positive line play especially in the passing game, and the Chan Gailey offense will either step up and maintain or fall into some level of mediocrity which most Bills fans have learned to expect.

Just as you cannot rush to conclusions after the great game last week, you cannot do the same if they are mediocre this week. KC is a tough place to play. The opportunities for our offense are rather limited because our D gives up so many first downs and rarely gets a turnover. What you hope to see is some consistency and 20-24 pts from the offense. Keep making progress. Would love to see Spiller bust one.
