For classic, I like It's A Wonderful Life. I remember before NBC bought the rights, that there was one year I could have watched it 4 times in one day when different stations had it on at different times.

For more current, Love Actually. Yes, it's more of a love story, but it takes place during the Christmas season, and being Christmas is part of the plot.

I've never seen Its a Wonderful Life, and I think that may be why I turned out the way I did...

But for pure holiday fun, a sure bet is either Apocalypse Now OR Scarface. Uplifting and reaffirming, these movies are nothing but good, clean fun for the entire family!

It's a wonderful life, is probably the best movie ever. Holiday movie or not. It had love, crime, prostitution, big guy vs. the little guy, shooting, you name, it was everything.

Two old faves...

"A Nightmare Before Christmas"...Tim Burton is a genious.

"A Christmas Story"...There's a little Ralphie in all of us.

My new favorite is "Elf", though. Will Farrell is at the peak of his carreer now. The scene with him eating cotton balls at the doctor's office is brilliant, truly brilliant.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation - I still laugh my ass off everytime I watch that movie. My VHS tape was getting bad so just last week I saw it at the store on DVD and had to get it.

christmas vacation. I don't care how much i liked elf last weekend, or polar express 2 weeks before, nothing beats the Griswald Family Christmas!

I like NL Christmas Vacation (strangely, it's one of my mother's favorite films, along with Christmas Story) and Elf.

"Period Of Adjustment", kind of funny 1962 black and white film starring Jane Fonda and Jim Hutton. It was, in fact, written by Tennesse Williams. A rare stab at comedy, from one of my very favorite writers. It is about a newly married couple on Christmas. One of HJ's first films. Not a classic necessarily, but something a little different for the holidays, and not the same old tired story!
