EDinRTP Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Tomorrow, my old neighbor & best friend in Atlanta is battling ALS & will become the seventh person in the U.S. to undergo a stem cell transplant for treatment. A great guy and full of hope. Please keep him in your prayers. Go get 'em John! http://www.myfoxatlanta.com/dpp/news/health-watch-stem-cell-trial-101810
bills44 Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Geez. This kind of puts things in perspective. I'll say a prayer for your friend and his family.
KD in CA Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Wow, good luck to him. ALS is by far the worst disease I've had the misfortune to see up close. Scary how prevelant it seems to be these days, especially among middle age people.
Jim in Anchorage Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Please keep us posted on his progress.Tell him Jim in Anchorage sends his best. I really had no idea how awful this disease was till I read your post.
Beerball Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 I hope that John's treatment was a success. Thoughs and prayers head his way.
EDinRTP Posted October 27, 2010 Author Posted October 27, 2010 Surgery went well and John came home Sunday. We drove to Atlanta over the weekend hoping to see him, but all was too hectic. Surgery was successful, but details from the family have been sketchy. My guess is it will be some time before they can tell if there were any positive results. Thanks for your prayers and will keep you posted when we hear some good news.
