I hope she does well in her porn career, she just did in most of her prospects in life besides that one. She must be somewhat effed up, I slept around a lot at her age and I know I was. It's my understanding that she went through all this trouble, making a 42 page powerpoint demonstration, just to email it to three friends. This does make me think that jboys may be right about this being a calculated move to be like a Kim Kardashian type who got famous because of a sex tape. To answer your 3 questions: 1. While casual, "off-the-record" remarks about women's bodies and sexual performances are common among frat guys, actual physical documentation of such remarks is most definitely not. 2. No idea, but I'm guessing that Ms. Karen Owen is a 12 credit-per-semester communications major and not some quadruple major engineering student. 3. Her parents are probably more concerned for their daughter's health than anything else: potential alcoholism, STD's, and date rape on top of the intense depression and shame that she is undoubtedly feeling right now. On top of that, they can't be too happy with her career prospects right now. Companies and grad schools tend to look down upon irresponsible and inconsiderate behavior (as well as disparaging comments about Asians). Yeah, number 1 has been going on forever. Not only when I went to college in the stone ages, but I remember being awake while two camp counselers were discussing their girlfriends when they thought all us 10 year olds were sleeping in the cabin. It's the documentation that is the difference here. Number 2 - I took 12 credits once, and that would be the only time I ever would have been able to come up with even the idea to waste this much time. Number 3 - You are probably right, although I think their first reaction was - you did what?!?..........I'm quite sure their first reaction was not "Oh, isn't excellent that our daughter is enjoying herself." I know parents are "involved" in a college kid's life, like when they were in high school, but I'm sure they hope they did a good job.......You would think she would think "What if this got back to my parents" seeing that everything digital has that chance. I often have thought about how do porn actresses, etc. parents feel. But, I also know most of them come from effed up households anyway. But, somebody who goes to Duke - their parents most likely actually care about their kids. That was my point, and I think I worded it wrong. About as proud as Paris Hilton's parents? I think he annouced that he was leaving the vast majority to charity, a la Gates and Buffett. I'm not sure it was aimed specifically at her. Regardless, she's probably made tens of millions over the past ten years on her own. People can rip these celeb chicks all they want, but they are the ones laughing all the way to the bank. They make millions, it's genius. We have billionaire moguls who take apart companies, laying off thousands, destroying familes and they're heralded. A woman uses her sex appeal to get ahead and it is thought of as wrong. Sexuality is so jaded in this country. What exactly does that mean? Everything is sexuallized to the nth degree. How can we possibly be repressed sexually? It screams out from every magazine at the checkout counter, it's all most sitcoms like Friends and Two and a Half Men ever talk about. You've got strip clubs and porn has exploded with the Internet. I can see you saying Arab countries are sexually repressed. But, how is this country sexually repressed and where does it fall in line with the rest of the world? We hide the meaning of it and leave our media and celebutards to educate our children. Porn is everywhere but we act like it is so taboo to enjoy the female form (or male, if you're inclined).
