Bills 4th rounders the past 25 years

Recommended Posts

Good work. Trading a young, former pro bowl player for a fourth round draft pick. Maybe we should try trading OUR fourth round draft pick for someone else's young, pro-bowl level player and actually improve the team. I know, we'll get better tomorrow when we hit gold in the draft...

If you want a real comparison , compare the 4th round draft picks that San Diego had while nix was out there then we might have an idea of what to expect .

We all know the crap that was picked by the people here , now we have these guys so check out there history not the Bills past history , unless Nix made some of those calls !!

I think Modrack might be next with his draft history !!!!

Nix was the SE regional guy for the Bills from 1992-2000, and in that time period he appears to have owned the fourth round: Russell Copeland, Sean Crocker, Ken Irvin, Jamie Nails, Bobby Collins, Keith Newman, and Avion Black all were SE region guys.

I think you're implying that he had a lot of influence in the fourth round, which is correct. However, that influence led to more misses than hits. (As one would expect from fourth round picks.)

Russell Copeland, WR: had just one season as a starter out of a seven year career. In his second-best season, he had 255 receiving yards.

Sean Crocker: never played a down in the NFL.

Ken Irvin: 11 year career, including about five years' worth of starts. Decent, not great player.

Jamie Nails: three years' worth of starts out of a six year career. Played like a backup.

Bobby Collins: started six times during his three year career.

Keith Newman: had about 5 or six years of starts in his eight year career. A decent player.

Avion Black, WR: never started a game in his three year career, and ended with less than 150 career receiving yards.

Buffalo Bills Draft Recap - 2007 NFL Draft

The Bills really did some nice work in the draft, almost every player they picked up was projected to go higher, and they filled several needs as well. Buffalo addressed the most pressing holes (RB, LB) and appeared to get good value with their three middle round picks really the only negative you could come up with is that Buffalo still needed a cornerback and it can be argued that Dwayne Wrights spot in the fourth would have been better used on a corner. That is nitpicking though.

Overall Grade: A-

:D :D :D

That's the whole premise of the original post!

In the past 25 years, the Bills have drafted one pretty good player in the fourth round (Terrence McGee), a couple of decent players (Ken Irvin and Keith Newman), and a whole lot of garbage.

It hurts to look at that list - only the 2001 draft might have been graded as decent.
