EDinRTP
Russians beat 'Canes 5-3 in nasty preseason game The Canes lost 5-3 to SKA St. Petersburg today in St. Petersburg, Russia, and the less said about the game, the better. Suffice it to say Canes coach Paul Maurice kept Eric Staal out of the NHL Premiere Challenge game in the third period for what appeared to be safety reasons. So much for building a bridge between the NHL & Russian Hockey Federation. At least Tim Gleason beat the crap out of some Russian player & got booted. I didn't realize Maxim Afinogenov was playing for SKA St. Petersburg.
