Cannell has created or co-created nearly 40 television series, mostly crime dramas, including The Rockford Files, The Greatest American Hero, The A-Team, Wiseguy, 21 Jump Street, Silk Stalkings, and The Commish. In the process he has, by his own count, scripted more than 450 episodes, and produced or executive produced over 1,500 episodes.

Wow....a quick glance at the name made me think it was Steve Carell.

Yeah, same here. Didn't want another cool comedian dying this week. :(

Canell was the master of the soft 1970's style drama. He did a show for UPN while I was with the network called Marker, staring Richard Grieco. Yes, it was as bad as you would expect for a show starring Richard Grieco. Mostly it was out of place in the 90's as it seemed kind of out of date.

 

But I have to admit, the Rockford Files was a very cool show.
