LGB Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Look at the Will Witherspoon for the Titans Here is guy that is way better at his position than Kelsay - who was cut because he was making too much money. He signed a three-year, $11 million contract in March a week after being unexpectedly released by Philadelphia - to avoid paying him $5 million for 2010. Why didn't the Bills get rid of some dead weight and sign this guy for half of Kelsay's money?
Booger Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Could not agree with you more on either WITHERSPOON or a player such as WITHERSPOON. Kelsay was a mistake to have given an extension way back when and the Bills just repeated themselves. Understood he is a "leader" and a "lockeroom guy" but at some point we need a few big, nasty players will attitude. It is almost if they "rewarded" Kelsay for making it until he was 30 and hanging around Buffalo. There is no way that Kelsay gets more than 3 million per year on the open market. Moves such as this will keep Buffalo running in place....
Dr. Trooth Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Huh? Apples are way better than oranges? Witherspoon is a 4-3 linebacker. Kelsay is a 3-4 linebacker. Witherspoon has never played DE and never been a 3-4 linebacker. Witherspoon has also played for 5 different teams. Can you say journeyman? At linebacker this year, Kelsay has 19 tackles, Witherspoon 17. Kinda like comparing a Camry to Tahoe. So, if you're attempting to make Kelsay look real bad, you failed big time.

Dr. Trooth Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Kelsay is a 3-4 LB? What would you call him? The Bills list him as a LB. NFL.com, an OLB. The point is that it's totally stupid to even consider comparing Witherspoon to Kelsay.

The other thing that people don't understand is it's not about why we don't bring in this player or that player---"Players do not want to come here". Do you think that just because you want someone that means they come to your team. Think about it would you go to the Titans or the Bills, hmmmm that's a no brainer!

That statement is true because the team is losing with no shot at the playoffs or the Super Bowl. Players will want to come to the Bills when, and only when, the team is winning. Given a choice, with money just about equal, a free agent veteran will choose a contender over a rebuilding situation every time.
Wagon Circler Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 I would come to the Bills because I'm a Bills fan!

Kelsay is a liability on the field and one that opposing teams have easily exploited this year (just look at the tape)...but we should pay him like he is a Pro-Bowl player. Gimme a break. Huh? Apples are way better than oranges? Witherspoon is a 4-3 linebacker. Kelsay is a 3-4 linebacker. Witherspoon has never played DE and never been a 3-4 linebacker.
