Teddy_Daniels Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 other than Jake Locker, Andrew Luck, and Ryan Mallett. Colin Kaepernick - 6'6, 225 pounds - Senior at Nevada - Born on November 3rd, 1987 - Started 34 games between 2007 and 2009. - Against +.500 competition last season: 13 TDs, 1 INT, 225 total yards per game, and completed 56% of his passes. Don't concentrate purely on Luck/Locker/Mallett. They are not the only choices in the first and second round.
Leonidas Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Thanks for the list. For someone who doesn't watch much college ball, this is certainly food for thought (no sarcasm intended).

Ray Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Thanks...that is encouraging. You want someone who has played a lot and had to read defenses, played against decent competition and made good choices. And as history as a guide QBs weare talking about now have a way of plummeting later on (Clausen and McCoy, B Brohm, etc...). I'll have to keep an eye out for these guys.
judman Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Watch that Kaepenick kid. I have been telling my buddies about him for two years. He looks good... worthy of looking into.
FightinIrishBills Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Not sold on Kaepernick. The guy has thrived in a great system and he has some wheels, but much like Locker, his mechanics are shaky at best. Right now the only real deal QBs I see out there are Mallett and Luck. And as much as I've championed Mallett, those 2 late interceptions against 'Bama were just bad. Meanwhile Luck is just an absolute stud. The kid is making perfect throws with blitzes coming at him all day (don't ask me how many times I swore at the TV last weekend as he sailed pass after pass into tight coverage). The rest of these guys are good, but not going to be elite level QBs anytime soon.
peanuts Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 I could see ponder in 2nd or 3rd Ponder is a great choice has his MBA and would make a fine second round pick. Grab the OT from wisconsin Carimi with the first pick which cost a ton of upfront $$$.
billsfaninvgs Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 I will be watching Colin Kaepernick live on Saturday. I hate Reno but this kid is a stud...

I think you do need a LT first otherwise what is the point of a franchise qb who you cant protect? Also , dont use the term "Bills Nation". That term belongs to The Oakland Raiders fans, and sometimes The Boston Red Sox.
JPS Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 I could see ponder in 2nd or 3rd A September draft projection. Isn't it early?
Maddog69 Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 The QB rankings will change as the season goes on. I think Ponder will end up as one of the top 2-3 QB prospects in the draft. I will be surprised if Luck comes out, unless Harbaugh leaves Stanford. Mallett and Ponder will be competing to be the #1 QB in the draft. Just my opinions.
1B4IDie Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 A September draft projection. Isn't it early? Not when you're 0-3 and cut your starting QB.
Maddog69 Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Remember last year when Jevan Snead was projected as a 1st rounder when the College season started? He ended up dropping like a rock.
playman Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 give me a senior with 3 seasons starting and 27 wins. better 30
artmalibu Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Any free agents available next year? Be nice to see a proven NFL QB rather than a college guy that needs a few years to develop.

Ramius Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 For those interested in Ponder, check out... http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/117981-ponder-watch/ And for those mouth breathers spouting off about FSU QBs, Ponder will be the first QB coming out of FSU to be coached entirely by Jimbo Fisher. Bobby Bowden and the old 'Noles offensive strategy played no role in the development of Ponder.

I take offense to that, I am the only mouthbreather making fun of FSU, and it's cause I really don't like them. Also, the Jimbo Fisher thing isn't that much of a vote of confidence when the last place he was QB's coach produced JellyCheeseRoll Russell. Ponder is good, but I hope we have our QB figured out before we have to go that route.
