DC Bills Fan Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Even though I'm listed as DC Bills Fan, I should probably change that to ATL Bills fan... Anyway, Coy Wire was on the Regular Guys show this morning, one of the jocks is from Buffalo or Rochester and still a Bills fan. He asked Coy what was wrong with Buffalo, and you could hear Coy trying to be diplomatic with his answer. He said that he had played in Buffalo for 6 years, and that was all he knew. When he went to the Falcons, he was shocked. He said that from the top down it was a first rate organization. The owner spends money to get the best coaches and players and has assembled a first rate front office. Coy said that alone fosters a winning atmosphere. He didn't take any shots at the Bills, but reading between the lines it was pretty clear that he didn't think that Ralph was as interested in winning as Arthur Blank.
DDD Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Think about this. Every time you buy something from Home Depot you're in fact supporting the Falcons as Blank is the owner of both. On that note is Ralph still selling insurance?
DarthICE Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 This shocks anyone? Yeah I know Bills fans want to scream 'rumor' and 'back the accusations with some link' or some BS. Bottom line it has been whispered about the league for years, Ralph is a cheap ass. He has never put a premium on GM's or HC's. He feels they are a dime a dozen. Look at the history of this franchis with him as the owner, outside of the Bill Polian years IT HAS SUCKED and will till the day the man dies.

The lineman that the Bills cut, last name Scott (sorry brain cramp, can't remember his first name, but he sucked!) said much the same thing about going from the Bills to the Steelers.

NOT TO MENTION THAT HE FIRED POLLIAN AND THAT THE DECISION TO PUT HIS ONLY CHAMPIONSHIP COACHES NAME (LOU SABAN) ON THE RING OF FAME WON'T BE MADE UNTIL HE'S LONG GONE ..
Ray Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Um.....Coy Wire is an average at best player. The biggest difference between the two tteams? Atlanta has a good QB. That is the biggest difference, and the biggest one that ever matters

That is the biggest difference, and the biggest one that ever matters So because he is an average player he can't have an opinion on the organization he spent six years with? Sure, they have a better QB, but you cannot deny you would rather have Blank as an owner than Ralph. Edited September 28, 2010 by Marauder24

BillsVet Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Word's going to leak out this team is focused on setting the team up for sale and is run by non-football people. Funny Nix wasn't around when the announcement was made to cut Edwards. That speaks volumes and the silence from OBD is deafening.

Another Point of View Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 We had T.V. in the weight room?

That is the biggest difference, and the biggest one that ever matters Um.....I think the point of his post is that Coy regardless of talent spent time in two different football organizations. He has an inside perspective that we fans would have zero idea about. Really though it only seems to validate what most of us think about the Bills ownership.
Ray Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 So because he is an average player he can't have an opinion on the organization he spent six years with? Sure, they have a better QB, but you cannot deny you would rather have Blank as an owner than Ralph. It would make no difference if he was owner if we didn't have a QB. The point is it's 90% plus about the player's and most importantly the QB. Why haven't we made the playoffs in 10 years? B/c we have no QB. Blank looked like a buffoon with the whole Petrino fiasco and lucked out they bottomed out the right year and got Matt Ryan. Lucky they didn't bottom out in '06 to have the great QB draft class of '07 with J Russell, Brady Quinn, J Beck, D Stanton and Trent Edwards. My simple point is that it matters a heck of a lot more who your QB is than who the owner is.....Ralph has certainly paid for free agents L Milloy, Spikes, S Adams etc...on those teams that had great defenses but horrible QB play. He has paid players tens of millions of dollars and WILL pay. Once we finally find a QB we'll be okay.

And who runs the franchise that has consistently ignored the QB position, as you have so eloquently pointed out?

It doesnt get more football than Buddy Nix. What do you mean he wasnt around when the announcement was made. it was Chan Gailey's Monday press conference, since when does the GM ever have a press coinference besides signing a player or after the draft? You guys are something else

LMAO And we needed Wire to imply that? That's common knowledge.

Fixxxer Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 And who runs the franchise that has consistently ignored the QB position, as you have so eloquently pointed out? So the Bills didn't try to find a QB? Todd Collins - 2nd round pìck Rob Jonhson - 1st and 4th round picks + stupid money Doug Flutie - from Canada AVP - kidding Drew Bledsoe - 1st round pick JP Losman - 1st and 5th round picks Trent Edwards - 3rd round They failed to find the right one but they didn't ignore the position.
A tisker a Tasker Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 The Regular Guys -Eric Von Haessler is from Rochester - he attended Monroe Community College - and Larry Wachs used to be on WPXY back in the the early 90's -so they met in the ROC and then went on to LA before ending up in Atlanta. As far as Coy Wire goes - sure he is not a great player, but you're talking about a Sanford guy who has stuck around the league for EIGHT YEARS. Do you know how hard it is to make an NFL roster once? Plus, since he played for the Bills in the 21st Century he has had the privilege of seeing a number of different coaching administrations. In light of thatI think he is qualified to compare and contrast football organisations. Side note - Coy is a good guy -he used to hang out at Gabriel's Gate back in the day.
