Booger Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Before anyone gets offended please stop and think.... 1. Fred Jackson is a fantastic leader and a fantastic NFL story. That is 100% understood and becasue of that it is not an easy decision...BUT Fred Jackson is going to be 30 years old before next season. That seems to be the "cutoff" these days for NFL RB's and statically it seems as if when teams seem to give up on RB's and lean towards youth. At this point, the youth of LYNCH and SPILLER will be far more valuable to Buffalo and their rebuilding. If all goes well the Bills may be able to keep the both of them together for their careers as both seem to be accepting of their roles (at least currently through the media). Lynch is 24 and Spiller 23 Lynch has 2 more years and Spiller 3 (or 4) Lynch has the "power" style while Spiller is a little more finess Rather than have Jackson rot away as the #3 on the bench. He has been great for the Bills, he has been a great story in the NFL. With all the injuries give him a chance to play and finish out his career on top, and possibly with a contender (as the Bills will be another 2-3 years out). If the Bills were to trade Lynch, they will be just repicking a position again in a year or two vs. filling other needs. We have all seen this to often with the departures of SAFETYS, LB's, DT's, CB's, OT's, etc....keep the YOUTH and BUILD

Which is why no one will give up anything significant for him. Is it really worth a 6th round pick to take a productive guy out of the offense?

Is it really worth a 6th round pick to take a productive guy out of the offense? In all honesty YES....seeing that the Bills are not going anywhere this year I believe a 6th round pick would be a great value and could be used in a future trade or replacement pick....
DanInUticaTampa Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Watching the GB game tonight, they REALLY need a running back right now. Their run game is non existant. I am sure they don't stick with the QBs they have for the rest of the year. In all honesty YES....seeing that the Bills are not going anywhere this year I believe a 6th round pick would be a great value and could be used in a future trade or replacement pick.... I wouldn't mind trading jackson... but for a 6th round pick is just silly. anything less than a 3rd is highway robbery. on a lot of teams he would be a starter.... worth way more than a 6th rounder.
The Dean Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Fred brings no value in a trade. Bad idea, IMO.
bills7834 Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 While I think this is a great topic for discussion. Haven't we talked about over and over. Why do you have to start another thread?

We need some players not a 5th rd pick.
boyst Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Fred Jackson is not the type of RB that any team desires. They want a real runner who can pound the ball. He is 30 years old and would never bring the value he deserves. Imagine trading Tasker in 95. What team would offer more than a 5th?
todzilla Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 All these reasons why Jackson may not have much value, are the reasons the Bills should hold on to Lynch. Get what you can for Jackson.
