MattyT Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Is there a good explanation for why one of the world's richest franchises, propped up in preseason to be prime Super Bowl contenders, are dicking-around with a kicker that seems to be still in the process of learning how to kick? Seriously? http://cowboysblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2010/09/david-buehlers-rough-practice.html lolBoys
tbonestake Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Buehler....Buehler....Buehler Frye...Frye...Frye

Pretty black and white to me, if the guy misses all them in practice and blows it in games then maybe you need to find someone else.
Albany,n.y. Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Quite odd how nonchalant Wade is with the ineptness of his kicker. Pretty black and white to me, if the guy misses all them in practice and blows it in games then maybe you need to find someone else. Wade's #1 priority has always been special teams
eSJayDee Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 What's the placekicker equivalent to "punt catcher". Like Albany said, Wade in the past has proven that he doesn't give a ticker's cuss about Special Teams.
BuffaloBud Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Also, because JJ doesn't want to pay squat for a reliable punter and / or kicker. He would rather pay him the league minimum and give some veiled promise that he'll line up a date with a cheerleader.
jimmy10 Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I was always under the impression that reliable kickers and punters are extremely hard to find. We all like to make fun of the kickers, but for the good ones to do what they do, on a regular basis, with all the variables that can go wrong, requires ice in the veins. The good ones also tend to stay around for a LONG time since they don't have the wear and tear regular players do, kind of like knuckleball pitchers. I don't think teams like to dick around with rookie/inexperienced kickers unless they absolutely have to.
Wagon Circler Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Anyone who spends time dwelling on the Cowboy's kicking game is probably posting on the wrong team's Board. Maybe next you'd like to discuss the Cardinal's punt return issues?
cmjoyce113 Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 (edited) They don't want 2 kickers taking up roster spots. He is a kick off specialist they are trying to turn into a place kicker. I believe he led the league in touchbacks by quite a bit last year. Edited September 24, 2010 by cmjoyce113
/dev/null Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Buehler....Buehler....Buehler Frye...Frye...Frye Anyone? Anyone?

Pretty black and white to me, if the guy misses all them in practice and blows it in games then maybe you need to find someone else. Wade isn't the GM & he's the HC in title only. Media here is assuming that Buehler will never again kick during the open portion of practice. Edited September 23, 2010 by Beerball

KD in CA Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Why did they get rid of Nick Folk? He always looked pretty good to me.
Ramius Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Why did they get rid of Nick Folk? He always looked pretty good to me. Folk was only 18-28 last season, including a miserable 6-14 over 40 yards.
