Jake Locker vs. Nebraska

Jake Locker will be a good NFL quarterback IF, and ONLY IF, he goes to a team with an established QB who can help in his development.

That leave Buffalo OUT. In fact, that is WHY Buffalo's QBs have sucked these past few years - the last vet they had was Bledsoe and they treated him like yesterday's garbage. So JP and Trent were on their own and dependent on the Bills' all-star coaching staff.

'Nuff said.

Huskies special teams SUCK. Huskers are good but it doesn't hurt that they had the short field just about every possession.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/12/18/locker-didnt-get-a-first-round-grade-from-advisory-committee/

"As pointed out in the Associated Press article regarding Locker's decision not to forgo his final season of college eligibility, Locker had submitted his name for consideration to the NFL Collegiate Advisory Committee, which estimates where a player might be drafted.

Despite a proclamation by ESPN's Todd McShay that Locker would/should/could be the first overall pick, a league source tells us that Locker didn't receive a first-round grade from the Advisory Committee."

For the millionth time, the guy can't throw.

Also, Mallett looked good but his pocket mobility is concerning, especially if he was to be drafted by a team without an offensive line to speak of, such as the Bills.

My focus today was on Carimi.

He didn't look good. He's the best player on a bad team. A good player with bad players around him, kind of like Cutler coming out of college.

He struggled with his accuracy and decision making. Going up against a great team like the Huskers, which boasts an elite defense, was a great opporunity for him to showcase his skills. Unfortunately the whole country watched him play like crap. And his lone TD wasn't special. It was a great play call and he caught the DB napping and made an easy throw.

I must admit, he's a special athlete who can run and throw it far. But that's not good enough to succeed in the NFL.

It's Andrew Luck or bust for me.

Yes, it was much better to anoint him the potential number 1 draft pick after his mediocre season last year.

I never anointed him anything. Its completely asinine to make an assessment on a QB either way, good or bad, based on the single time someone saw him play.

Exactly...

I'm not saying Locker does not have potential...He does...But he is also going to be a REAL tough evaluation for any NFL Team...I don't think there's a chance in hades he goes Top 5 unless he can pick that Team up and carry them on his back for a few BIG wins this Season...The investment involved in a Top 5, heck even a Top 10 Draft Pick at QB is going to be substantial to say the least. And there are currently too many questions with Locker...The Kid has incredible athletic ability no question...But getting shut down like he did today...At Home as a Sr...I don't know...I realize he's not surrounded by the greatest talent and he was going up against a FAR better team...But one of the QB's he's going up against in the 2011 Draft just took Arkansas to Georgia and came out with a W...I know Arkansas is ranked and Georgia is not, but does anyone think that's because Arkansas has more overall talent than Georgia? Where would Arkansas be without Mallett? He's making a HUGE difference on that Team and it's success...I don't see that yet in Locker and it would scare the hell out of me if I was an NFL GM that REALLY needed a QB...To me he looks more like a guy who will go in the late 1st or early 2nd to a Team that can sit him for a couple years behind a Vet...He's got the rest of this Season to change my opinion though...We'll see... B-)

I agree Andrew luck is our Guy.

Based on his one year (8-4) of playing college football at powerhouse Stanford U? No way Luck declares for the 2011 draft.

(But lets say, just for the sake of argument, that Stanford students are really stupid and Luck does declare for the NFL draft in his junior year with just 2 years of playing experience for a mediocre Stanford team - no chance that Buddy Nix picks him. Absolutely none.)
