coastalpika Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 http://boards.buffalobills.com/showthread.php?t=288237 OK i have a brother inlaw who is partners in a construction company with a NFL LB and i was told that this LB is coming to Buffalo in a trade for one of our RB's Bash me if you want but this trade is in the works A quick search of his message history has him saying he lives in Ohio and went to Ohio State. He also had a comment a few days ago saying the Bills should trade for AJ Hawk since he is not starting. Another quick search says that AJ Hawk owns a construction company in Columbus http://www.bbb.org/centralohio/business-reviews/contractor-commercial/mid-ohio-contracting-services-ltd-in-grandview-heights-oh-70059357 Take it for what it's worth. Usually these rumors seem like pipe dreams but this guy's story actually adds up.
b stein 22 Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 (edited) I wish that would come true, but odds are that will never happen. Edited September 15, 2010 by b stein 22

Stealth Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Hypotheticaly speaking AJ Hawk has been a dissapointment at lb for the packers, and the packers who btw play a 3-4 don't even use him in nickel packages. I get we need lb's but the last thing we need is another overhyped lb who can't cover.

boyst Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 James Laurinaitis is the OSU LB I would like. I think he was talking about Spielman, though. Imagine if he was here, he really would make a difference right now.
Buffalo Billy Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Its possible GB could be throwing in a little something extra than just Hawk. I could be reading too much into it, but he merely said he was IN a trade for one of our RBs. "He is being traded for one of our RBs" sounds different than "he is in a trade for one of our QBs". Meant RBs, not QBs of course. Sorry, can't edit in this mobile version of the site.

tjprime Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 As someone else pointed out in that thread Shawn Merriman also has a construction company
Ghost of Rob Johnson Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 (edited) Could picture him being available: "After Sunday’s Green Bay Packers victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, I incorrectly assumed Packers inside linebacker A.J. Hawk started the game before giving way to Brandon Chillar. Afterwards, assuming he had been on the field and I had missed him, I questioned where Hawk was. He didn’t record a single stat and it turns out, that’s because Hawk didn’t play a single down on defense." http://www.totalpackers.com/2010/09/14/a-j-hawk-is-the-forgotten-man/ Edited September 15, 2010 by Ghost of Rob Johnson
Buffalo Billy Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Sounds like it could be Hawk then. Throw in an o-line depth play or late draft pick and call it a deal.
ndirish1978 Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Hawk is actually better than any of the guys we have back there right now and would be able to contribute more than Lynch will this year.
truth on hold Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Hawk is actually better than any of the guys we have back there right now and would be able to contribute more than Lynch will this year. Plus we have some precedent for taking Green Bay's high round / high profile picks that didn't work out.

Punch Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 It's true Hawk has been a disappointment the last couple of years and has never lived up to the hype of being drafted #5 overall (which is not his fault), but to be fare, Marshawn is essentially the equivalent at the RB position. I think this would be an even trade at the moment, although I believe there is ultimately more upside for the Packers. Both players will be free agents at the end of the year, if I'm not mistaken, and I'm certain Lynch will not re-sign here.
dpberr Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 A.J. Hawk has the same problem, that ironically, our very own Trent Edwards has. Great athlete, can memorize a playbook, but lacks the instinct for football.
LABills08 Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 I honestly can't see the Bills making a trade for anything other than a draft pick. I understand we are in need of a linebacker, but overall, we are not going to be a team competing this year. In other words, if the trade happened, the result would hopefully be an incremental increase over someone like Torbor or Moats. I'm not sure that makes sense for the Bills unless the linebacker coming back is cheap and signed beyond the next 2 seasons. And, a player like that won't likely be traded away.
