sven233 Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 (edited) Done for year....... "LB Kawika Mitchell was placed on Injured Reserve. Buffalo signed free agent LB Akin Ayodele." Edited September 10, 2010 by sven233
BillsObserver Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Wow. Looks like his run in Buffalo may be over. 2 serious injuries..
Oneknee Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 What a waste of a signing...referring to Mitchell.
eball Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Feel badly for Mitchell. A weak spot for the Bills becomes weaker; not good.
buffalo_bills Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Ayodele>Mitchell...i think so. Ayodele has been a career starter, and i dont think hes much of a downdgrade, if not an upgrade over Mitchell.
Gabe Northern Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 This has injury settlement written all over it.
BfloBillsFan Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Ayodele>Mitchell...i think so. Ayodele has been a career starter, and i dont think hes much of a downdgrade, if not an upgrade over Mitchell. It's amazing how fast these things happen. Did we not just hear a day or 2 ago that Mitchell is unlikely for game 1? I know Gailey wasn't commenting on long term prognosis, but did anyone see this coming?
bowery4 Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 @JeremyWGR He's out for the season. Wish him well @KawikaMitchell. IR for Kawika Mitchell
High Mark Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Ayodele>Mitchell...i think so. Ayodele has been a career starter, and i dont think hes much of a downdgrade, if not an upgrade over Mitchell. I agree with that in the past but Ayodeles game is losing ground at this point. Still I didnt think Mitchell was the greatest in the first place. Dont like to see him to go down but I do like the veteran addition.
bowery4 Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 BTW Found this on twitter too @CJSpiller We will carry tradition. word is that w/5 min left in ea quarter, the home side yells "CJ" visiting side follows with "Spiller"
Kelly the Dog Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Adoyele should be a solid veteran replacement as a back-up, depending on how much speed he may have lost. He's always been productive. Probably a better ILB than Mitchell was, although Mitchell was probably a better blitzer and a little quicker in coverage. Still, it's probably not much of a loss, if any at all. http://www.miamidolphins.com/content/akin-ayodele
Malazan Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I'm waiting for the people who wanted to cut Mitchell to start freaking out that he's injured.
wonderbread Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 This has injury settlement written all over it. Yes. I thought the same thing. maybe its a cost cutting measure.
FightClub Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 How did Mitchell even get hurt?? I heard he was likely out for game 1 about a day ago, but where did this sudden injury come from? Practice?
silvermike Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Eh, I'd guess we wanted to cut him all along, but couldn't because he was injured. The meantime was just scouting replacements.
Kelly the Dog Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 This is likely why Akin was cut by the Broncos... Ayodele became expendable when the Broncos decided to move Mario Haggan from outside linebacker to the inside "Mike" position, where Haggan spent all of the offseason and the early portion of training camp. The team has bumped Robert Ayers into the starting lineup at outside linebacker along with Jarvis Moss, who returned last week from a broken hand. Joe Mays and Wesley Woodyard, both key special-teams players, will provide depth at inside linebacker. Baraka Atkins, Jason Hunter and Jammie Kirlew will fight for jobs on the outside. "I just don't believe in taking veteran players to the final cutdown once you've already made a decision," coach Josh McDaniels said of releasing Ayodele, who signed as a free agent in April. As a bonus, Adoyele has more experience in the 3-4.
CardinalScotts Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I'm waiting for the people who wanted to cut Mitchell to start freaking out that he's injured. It's a tough game for tough people
lets_go_bills Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 That sucks for both us and him. He'll never play another down in a Bills uniform. Signing Ayodele makes sense. He fits the D and knows the scheme. Should be a decent backup/depth player.
