BillsPhan Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 You can't share optimism about the job Chan has done so far, because the games haven't started, and there are no wins, but you can sure offer negativism about it. Sounds fair. Yeah, you're right again Fair and Balanced Dog. Here's one thing I'm feeling positive about regarding this Sunday's opener against the Dolphins however: I'm positive the Bills will play a hard fought football game against a team with more talent, but not way more talent. I'm positive Chan's offense will be fun to watch and they'll score at least 20 points. And unfortunately, at this point, I'm positive the Bills will find a way to lose the game in the 4th quarter when everything is on the line and cooler heads prevail. However, if I'm wrong and the Bills win handily or they pull out the close victory, then I'll be one happy sarcastic, negative (realistic) Bills fan. My realistic prediction: Dolphins 28, Bills 24.
stevestojan Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 There have been a lot more teams less relevant than the Bills over the last decade.

Fair enough. The bold sentence above is what I am curious to see. We all know the Bills have caved in the 4th quarter for a decade. In the Jauron era, I blamed it on a combination of four things: 1] Jauron sucked as a game day coach and often made horrendous decisions late in games, 2] Jauron sucked as a coach and his play not to lose philosophy keep us close in games but when teams really wanted to murder us, and had to, they did in the 4th quarter, 3] the defense would play valiantly for most of the game and keep us in it but the offense sucked so bad that the defense was on the field for 3-4 series more than they should have been and by the end of the game, they were exhausted and teams did whatever they needed to do to us, and 4] The Bills had few stars players who have tendencies to make big plays when they need to to win games in the end, combined with Jauron sucking as a coach and not putting his star or even skill players in position to make star or skill plays at the end of games to win them. Gailey is a whole other animal. Maybe he won't be making these terrible decisions. Maybe the offense will be good enough to score some points or keep some drives going so the defense is not exhausted in the fourth quarter. He is not going to be in a play not to lose philosophy, he is going to play to win and we may just put up some points. He is going to put his star and skill players in position to make star plays at the end of the game, and we have one guy who really may be a star. The Bills may still cave in the 4th periods of these games. But I won't be totally surprised if we don't.
