Steely Dan Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 The information on each players age is taken from BB.com player page. Link The average age of the Bills 53 man roster as of 09/07/2010 is 26.5 years The positions are in alphabetical order: (Players 25 or younger have been highlighted in red. There are 24 players on the team that are 25 or younger.) I'm betting dollars to donuts that the Bills become formidable for several years once they hit their stride. I find some things curious about the numbers kept for each position. There are four starting LB positions and yet the team kept 10 on the roster. There are 5 starting OL positions and the team kept 9. Also, five WR's seems a bit thin to me. JMO

JMO Yes, they are a very young team, and will likely take some lumps because of it. They do have some nice upside, and with a few more solid drafts, can be a force to be reckoned with in the upcoming years, if they play their cards right and stop letting good young players walk.
WordByrd Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Donte sticks out to me the most. He's only 25! Seems like we picked him forever ago. I really like him against the run, and I think he's going to have a nice year in pass coverage too. I predict Donte to back up his talk this year.

I think a lot of the young talent on this team is better than most think. I believe they've found a coach who knows how to get the best from his players.
slyng1 Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 How does this compare with the rest of the league or our division? I assume we're younger, but it would be interesting to see where we rank among the 32 teams. I'd also be interested in seeing if there's any correlation between avg age and how much success you have in this league -- I wonder what the optimal age is to make a super bowl run?

Steely Dan Posted September 7, 2010 Author Posted September 7, 2010 wow... fitz is only 27? seems like he was a lot older than that! Maybin being 22 surprised me. Give the kid some time to mature and see what happens.
Bills Fan in MD Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 I'd comment on the subject matter at hand, but I'm too busy feeling depressed at how old I am . . . I think this is the first time in my life that I am older than every player on the Bills, and it's only downhill from here.

IMagine how bad DJ would look as a coach if Chan wins 8 or 9 games this year! Not saying it will happen...
Amstel Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 I hope these young guys develop into a solid core of players that we hold onto for years....

I think we need to do something similar with TSW membership...although I'm not as optimistic about the pool of "good young talent" here.

"but he was a first round pick! he should have been able to start game one to be worth that! he sucks! Look at what [insert player we could have had here] has done! Maybenot was the biggest bust of all time!!11!" /every response to a Maybin mention in a thread

I hear you, as the only players older than me on the entire roster are the punter and the kicker. Edited September 7, 2010 by The Jokeman

This is an important year for the young man.

Rockinon Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Looking at Stroud's age and the reports that he is in the best shape of his career is kind of interesting. YOU feel bad? Most of the guys on the team are too young for my daughter! I know. Mine too!
Steely Dan Posted September 8, 2010 Author Posted September 8, 2010 These frickin whiny baby boneheads. I'm older than the players!! Waaah! Waaah! Waaah! Anyhoo, I was talking to a friend tonight and he believes the reason the Bills kept 10 LB's is that they are, generally, the best ST players.
