eball Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 After all, this is a football message board visited primarily by adult (or so they claim) men. Is there REALLY an issue with provocative avatars such as the one I was using -- a woman wearing a short top who painted herself to look like Garfield for Halloween -- that offends anyone's sensibilities that much? I'm curious as to what the actual visitors to this board think -- and I might suggest that if you're offended by a sexy (but non-nude) photo, you're probably offended by a LOT of stuff. If strict censorship is going to be the norm, perhaps we can also have a "prayer" button added to each post.

mead107 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 (edited) I missed what it looked like. Not your ball. Edited August 31, 2010 by mead107
ExiledInIllinois Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Hey! This is a "family board"... I still voted: None.

You can always split your screen and look at smut in one browser window and TBD on the other.

I saw your previous avatar and have no problem with it, I also do not run this forum so my opinion on the matter is meaningless. Cleavage is cleavage, I am sure there has been a lot worse on normal sites that people view everyday (porn not included). As long as its tasteful so be it. And if anyone was offended by the girl/garfield take the stick out of your ass it will be more comfortable to sit.
erynthered Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 ATTICA ATTICA ATTICA!!!!! (somebody had to say it )
BuffaloBill Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Get over it. Agreed - I was not offended by your avatar but also so no point in it. There are plenty of places to go out on the internet to look at pictures of semi-clothed or nude women if that is your thing. As for me, I see the mods having a difficult job of keeping the forum an agreeable place for men, women and children.

shrader Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 None of us own this board. SDS and anyone else pulling the strings have the right to run this board however they damn well please.
KRC Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 When you registered, you agreed to the rules as determined by the site owner (SDS). If you don't like it, there are plenty of other message boards you can visit. Acting like a spoiled little child does not do much to support your argument that this site is primarily visited by 'adults.' You really need to get over yourself.
thebug Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I am not offended by anyone's avatars, but it would be nice not to have to worry about what my kids might see when they come up and look over my shoulder and say "whatcha doin"?. A few in the last little while would have them asking other questions for sure, but SDS gets to make the calls and I'm good with it either way.

KD in CA Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Hey! This is a "family board"... I still voted: None. That's odd, I thought this was a place people came when they were avoiding/ignoring their family.

Why the stricter/change in policy than before? That's odd, I thought this was a place people came when they were avoiding/ignoring their family. I got children coming of age and they know where I go... Boy... They must think dad (me) looks stupid! I should just tell them that my handle name is DC Tom...
DrDawkinstein Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Elephants taking a dump on a big-ass toilet, however, are comparatively rare. haha, believe me, as i was typing it i was laughing at my stupid idea for an avatar as well.
eball Posted August 31, 2010 Author Posted August 31, 2010 Thanks for the responses. I appreciate the thoughtful opinions rather than just a "because those are the rules" or "get over yourself." Anyone who has followed my posts over the *many* years I've been around knows I don't just post an avatar of cleavage to get my rocks off. The Garfield avatar was clever and amusing. In fact, I'm pretty sure it was the first avatar of anything remotely provocative I've ever used. I certainly don't have to hang around here if I don't want to, but it still strikes me as ridiculous. Does that make me wrong? Anyway, I'm glad some of you just wanted to take the opportunity to pretend you know *anything* about me, other than that I'm not afraid to challenge something I don't necessarily agree with.

Sooooo the FSU Cowgirls are no good?? It is football related, sort of, maybe?

Again...no real problems? I'll gladly trade my "wife's fractured spine" problem for your "banned avatar" problem if you like...
