Wagon Circler Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Finally got to watch the game last night. I know it's hard to tell but did anybody notice whether Wilson was playing fee safety or strong side? He seemed to be blitzing a lot and very involved in the run D.
Kelly the Dog Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 The safeties are more interchangeable in this defense than in year's past, so it really doesn't matter as much which one is playing which position. For what it's worth, Whitner is playing the SS position with Scott backing him up, and Wilson is playing the FS position in place of Byrd. When Byrd gets back, it will VERY likely be Byrd and Whitner starting, with Scott coming in as a LB in obvious passing situations. The only thing we don't know I guess is if Whitner goes out, does Scott come in to back him up or does Wilson then play the SS position. My guess is that it would be Wilson, unless the team we are playing is much stronger as a run team than a pass team.
