Geno Smith's Arm Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 (edited) It's a great idea to build next to the falls. With all the hotels, attractions, casinos, tourist traps, what the hell, why not build a stadium there. Why you naysayers think it's going to be an eyesore? IDK! Please just stop already! Bringing more people to WNY is what it is all about. A new stadium in downtown Buffalo isn't nearly the attraction a new stadium in downtown Niagara Falls would be. The opportunities created and the people attracted would be substantial in Niagara Falls compaired to Buffalo, because of everything else that is there. You really have to be foolish and naive to NOT think this would be a home run for the economy of WNY, being built by the falls. Potential Final 4, Super Bowl, college bowl game, etc. That would be a huge economic boost for all of WNY, and hopefully would give tons of incentive to make Niagara Falls, NY a real tourist destination again. It's a good idea, just not near the actual falls. How about raze all those chemical plants (course, who would want to work on that site, you'd come home glowing)? A nice distance from the falls though. Of course, none of this really helps anyone in Erie County. It just hands it over to the Indian Casino, the local yokel politicians (who can't keep a 7-11 from going under), and the Mobster land developers. Edited September 11, 2010 by ThrowIt
bowery4 Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Why not build it on the edge of the Falls??? - it would go over
Merle Haggard Posted September 12, 2010 Author Posted September 12, 2010 (edited) Instead of some of you howling why it "will never work", I'd like to hear some more ideas on how to get it built as close the falls, on the American side, as possible. The best I've heard thus far is to level the Days Inn and build it in that area. Great location, with a view. Imagine the roar of our home crowd, coupled with the roar of the might falls. Any football fan or player would want to play and watch games in this venue, which means hello Super Bowl hosting opportunities, hello College Bowl games, hello final 4, hello attracting the best players to come up our way, hello to great head coaches who see a region and their ownernewship committed to always upgrading their team. Build it with state of art techonology, with plenty of glass to take advantage of the views. Build it so it fits well into the surroundings. Just build it for pete's sake and watch them flock to it. The alternative? Stick our collective heads in the sand while the Ralph crumbles around us and keep telling ourselves the Ralph "is perfect". Edited September 12, 2010 by Merle Haggard
BadDad Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Oh, yeah, there's that too. Those bridges over Grand Island are a freaking mess - guess we'll need to fix that before NF grows... I went across a couple of weeks ago when I was in the area and I couldn't believe the wait time. My Aunt, who lives on the Island, said it can be as long as 2 hours.
Buffalo Billy Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Merle, just stop. As nice as it would be, there are just TOO MANY individual obstacles to make it happen. And considering each obstacle has little to no chance of being solved in THE REAL WORLD, your constant hypothesizing is irrelevant. You'd be just as likely to put our new stadium on the moon. Comon guys, I don't want cowardly excuses! Give me your ideas on how to get the new stadium built on the moon! If you build it they will come! No pain no gain! Why not?!? Do you see how silly you sound now? All the theorizing in THE world -here- won't get the stadium built in the real world. Are you a real estate developer? Oh wait, I forgot. This thread was just to stroke your own ego getting people to respond to your "brilliant" ideas.

To stick our collective heads in the sand while the Ralph crumbles around us and keep telling ourselves the Ralph "is perfect"? Sorry in my mind the status quo is unacceptable. Thus I will not "just stop". You always have the option to not join the discussion, but then again, that would take all the fun out of your stalking tactics and looney theories. LOL. Throw back another round guy. Anyhows, let's agree on this one: Let's go Bills! I'm pumped.
