daquixers Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 Now - here is the playoff chances (1 possibility) Jets go 0-4 ... (Pitt, Seattle, NE, St. Louis) Ravens go 2-2 ... (Giants, Indi, Pitt, Miami) Broncos and Jacksonville are still in play. I think the Ravens will lose to Indi and Pitt, so going 2-2 wont be too unrealistic.
Snorom Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 Jets can go 0-4 and still beat us out for the playoffs The only chance we have is if Den loses 3 games, Jax and Balt loses 2 games while the Bills run the table

Mikie2times Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 Ok. But I would feel much more comfortable with them losing out. 146902 It doesn't matter how it goes down Dax, point is if they lose to New England and Finish 10-6 we beat them out. So they can have one more game just not the New England one.
Bear Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 I figured the same thing Astro, although I picked the Giants over Baltimore (don't know why) which ended them 8-8. Actually makes it so we can lost to Pitt and fight Denver for the last slot at 9-7. Either way, while I still say it's all so unlikely, the possiblitly is there.
KurtGodel77 Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 I don't see any problem with the Jets losing to NE or Pittsburgh. But for them to lose three of their last four, they need to also lose to someone from the NFC West (either Seattle or St. Louis). While I'd love for that to happen, I have the feeling it's not going to. This means that for us to get to the playoffs, everyone besides the Jets has to lose out. As someone pointed out, teams like Denver, Baltimore, and Jacksonville have tough schedules from now until the end of the year, so it could happen.

If Pittsburgh and New England each run the table until Week 17 (which, by looking at these picks you seem to think will happen) there's no way they sit their starters with homefield advantage on the line. If Week 17 is meaningless to Pittsburgh it's either because they lose 2 of their next 4. And if that happens, that means they've lost to Jax, NY, and/or Baltimore. In other words, if the last game is meaningless to Pittsburgh, Buffalo's probably out of it even if they're 9-6. A much, much more realistic scenario is Denver and Buffalo both sitting at 9-6 with Buffalo playing a Pittsburgh team looking for homefield advantage or at worst a first round bye, and Denver hosting the Colts who A) won't have a bye week in the playoffs and B) likely will be locked in to the #3 seed. And Manning won't even be playing for any records by then. They'll be the team resting their starters.
Thurman's Helmet Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 The Colts will be playing Manning to run that record up as high as it can go and they may actually need the game to get the #3 seed as right now San Diego is ahead of them in tiebreakers I believe.

Thurman's Helmet Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 division winers get top 3 seeds so lets hope Colts need the win 147319 Top 4 seeds go to Division winners. As of right now, Chargers have tiebreakers over the Colts due to division records so as of right now, the Colts need every game.
