JStranger76 Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Ellis may start over Kelsay, not likely to be cut IMO
vincec Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Nelson & Mitchell over Jones/Roosevelt and Moats. Otherwise, I think you nailed it.
nonprophet Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 My 53: QB: T.Edwards, Brohm, Brown RB: Jackson, Lynch, Spiller, J.Bell FB: McIntyre TE: Stupar, Schouman, Foschi, Nelson OL: Hangartner, Levitre, Wood, Green, D.Bell, Howard, Meredith, Calloway WR: Evans, Johnson, Parrish, Jackson, Hardy, Nelson DL: Stroud, Williams, Johnson, Troup, D.Edwards, Carrington OLB: Kelsay, Torbor, Ellis, Coleman ILB: Mitchell, Posluzny, Davis, Moats CB: McGee, Florence, McKelvin, Corner, Youboty S: Byrd, Wilson, Scott, Whitner ST: Moorman, Lindell, Sanborn You would keep Hardy and cut Maybin?
bills1960 Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 I don't think they'll keep Howard over Calloway. His size is impressing and his coaching from Iowa should help him adapt to the NFL. Also think that Brohm will get cut, because they like the Brown experiment and don't want to risk losing him on the PS. Otherwise, seems pretty accurate.
Steely Dan Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 (edited) My opinions... Fitz will be on the team. They will pass Brown through to PS. Yes, he will make it through waivers. He hasn't shown much and too many other young higher drafted QBs are going to get cut or waived. Gailey will want all three of the veteran QBs on the roster from Day One. They all have played equally so far this preseason. Mitchell is not going to get cut. They will keep him over Moats or Ellis. Moats may get sent to PS. Ellis probably gets cut outright. They need three ILBs = Poz, Davis and Mitchell. Hardy may get cut, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him stay and Roosevelt or Jones sent to PS. They'll make it through waivers, lots of WRs out there. D. Nelson is going to make it over Jones / Roosevelt too. Coleman is going to make the team. Again it may come at the sacrifice of Ellis or Moats. Chambers may get cut in favor of a waiver wire OL pickup, as you suggest. EDITED because I forgot about David Nelson. Right now I agree. Unless Brown has a monster game tonight and next week I think he'll pass through to the PS. ETA; Brown will not play tonight. Edited August 28, 2010 by Steely Dan
shrader Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Reading the people who list the practice squad has me wondering. Can a cut player be offered a practice squad slot by multiple teams? If that does happen, do they then get to choose whichever team they want?

If that does happen, do they then get to choose whichever team they want? Yes. If a player is originally waived, he has to pass through waivers of all the other teams before he can go on your practice squad. If he gets claimed by another team he goes to them but has to be on their active roster. If no team claims him he is a free agent and teams can offer to sign him to their practice squad. He doesn't have to go, or could choose between teams if more than one want him for their PS.

purple haze Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 QB (3) Edwards, Brohm, Brown RB (5) Jackson, Lynch, Spiller, Bell, McIntyre WR (6) Evans, Johnson, Parish, Jackson, Jones, Roosevelt TE (4) Stupar, Nelson, Schouman, Foschi OL (9) Bell, Levitre, Hangartner, Wood, Green, Meredith, Wang, Chambers, Howard DL (7) Stroud, Williams, Edwards, Johnson, Carrington, Troup, McCargo LB (7) Kelsay, Posluszny, Davis, Torbor, Maybin, Ellis, Moats DB (8) McGee, Florence, Witner, Wilson, Byrd, Scott, McKelvin, Youboty, Corner Specialists (3) - Lindell, Moorman, Sanborn "Surprise" cuts - Fitzpatrick, Hardy, Mitchell. I think that they'll raid the waiver wire for some o-line help as well following final cuts, so beyond the starting five, none of that crew is safe. What does everybody think? I could see more turnover here than I indicated for sure. Where do we make changes? David Nelson has looked better than all the WR's outside of Lee. You think he's getting cut?
ganesh Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Thanks. I wonder if that ever actually comes up. Actually it happened with Brohm (in a slightly different way). Brohm was on the PS of the Packers and the Bills offered to move him to their active roster. Brohm got offers from GB to do the same. But with a chance to start in Buffalo, he decided to take the offer from Buffalo. I also believe Jason Peters was cut by the Bills initially and was planning to take up PS spot with the Giants before deciding on the Bills.
Steely Dan Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Thanks. I wonder if that ever actually comes up. I can't think of any off the top of my head right now but I think it happens every year. This is my final 53 with PS. Since this is being done by me 15 of them will probably be wrong. QB (3) Edwards, Brohm, Fitzpatrick. (Brown on PS) RB (4) Jackson, Lynch, Spiller, Bell. (Anderson to PS) FB (1) McIntyre WR (6) Evans, Johnson, Hardy, Parrish, D. Nelson, C. Jackson (Roosevelt to PS) TE (2) Stupar, Foschi (Nelson won't be back til week 5) (George to PS) OL (10) Bell, Levitre, Hangartner, Wood, Green, Meredith, S. Allen, Hennessey, Howard, Chambers. (Wang to IR) (Calloway to PS) DL (6) Edwards, Stroud, Williams, Troup, Carrington, S. Johnson. (Harvey to PS) LB (9) Mitchell, Poz, Davis, Moats, Torbor, Maybin, Kelsay, Ellis, Ellison. (Coleman to PS) DB (10) Byrd, Whitner, Wilson, Youboty, McKelvin, Florence, McGee, Corner, Corto, Lankster (D. Harris to PS) Specialists (2) - Lindell, Moorman. Practice Squad; Brown Anderson Roosevelt George Calloway Harvey Coleman D. Harris
Steely Dan Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Stupar was signed to the Bills PS after the Pets* cut him. Link Stupar’s uncle, former New York Giants quarterback Jeff Hostetler, had a 15-year career but was also a third-round draft choice. Stupar was an undrafted free agent signee of New England, but failed to make the team’s roster out of training camp. Buffalo signed him to their practice squad a short time later just before the season began in 2008.
billsfan89 Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 QB (3) Edwards, Brohm, Brown RB (5) Jackson, Lynch, Spiller, Bell, McIntyre WR (6) Evans, Johnson, Parish, Jackson, Jones, Roosevelt TE (4) Stupar, Nelson, Schouman, Foschi OL (9) Bell, Levitre, Hangartner, Wood, Green, Meredith, Wang, Chambers, Howard DL (7) Stroud, Williams, Edwards, Johnson, Carrington, Troup, McCargo LB (7) Kelsay, Posluszny, Davis, Torbor, Maybin, Ellis, Moats DB (8) McGee, Florence, Witner, Wilson, Byrd, Scott, McKelvin, Youboty, Corner Specialists (3) - Lindell, Moorman, Sanborn "Surprise" cuts - Fitzpatrick, Hardy, Mitchell. I could see more turnover here than I indicated for sure. Where do we make changes? McCargo still on the roster? And Mitchell not on the roster why? Mitchell is a solid backup we need more linebackers also why 4 tightends? Also Fitzy is a good backup Brown should just be on the practice squad. I think that I would also cut McCargo and replace him with Lonnie Harvey.
purple haze Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Is Jairus Byrd officially out all year? My only changes to your 53 Man Roster WR...I see the Bills keeping 6 WR's, but I think Roosevelt get a practice squad invite. I think Hardy is given this year to prove himself under Gailey. TE...Boy this is a week position, but I see Stupar, Nelson, and Foschi. Schouman is hurt too often and is too light (220+) is too small for a TE in Gailey's system. LB...I think they keep Mitchell for his general versatility and the fact that you can't have too many LB's in a 3-4. He takes the open roster spot by having only three tight ends. DB...I see the Bills keeping Lankster. He has a nose for the ball and plays bigger than his size. Also, he would contribute on special teams. The Bills would then have: QB (3) RB (5) WR (6) TE (3) OL (9) DL (7) LB (8) DB (9) Special Teams (3) 53 Total: Practice Squad Invites: 1. Chad Simpson (RB) 2. Naaman Roosevelt (WR) 3. Antonio Coleman (LB) 4. Danney Batten (LB...Injured Reserve?)/Marcus Easley (WR...Injured Reserve?) 5. Lonnie Harvey (DT) 6. Cary Harris (DB) 7....Some offensive lineman currently on roster or cut from other squad. If the Bills get a veteran player, then I think OL (Howard) takes this practice squad spot. Good list. Batten and Easley are on IR so I don't think they can go on the PS. IN fact I think that's WHY they were put on IR. So they wouldn't take up a roster spot while they recuperate, but can't contribute on the field and so they wouldn't have to be waived. Easley at least would be claimed quick fast. Donald Jones will be on the PS I think. He's shown a lot in practice. I don't think Simpson is eligible for PS because he was on the Colts roster last year. I agree on Lankster. Hardy? Maybe.
