George (6’4” 251) was signed after the draft by the Carolina Panthers, but was released by the club in June.

A second team All-Mountain West Conference selection as a senior at BYU, George had 70 receptions for 827 yards and 11 touchdowns in 38 career games for the Cougars. Perhaps his biggest play was his 25-yard touchdown reception in overtime to beat 22nd ranked Utah last November. He was the team’s second tight end behind Baltimore Ravens fourth-round pick Dennis Pitta.

George’s measurables are considered pretty good for a tight end. At his BYU pro day this past spring he had a 4.79 40-time along with a 35-inch vertical leap and nine-foot five-inch broad jump.

Is George his first or last name?

Or does he go by one name?

did he died?

Yes.

George, the new tight end, died.

The players will be wearing a black patch on their unis this year to mourn his loss.

The patch will have the number 8_ on it because they hadn't even assigned him a number yet.
