Steely Dan Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/08/14/buffal...dex.html?hpt=T1 (CNN) -- Eight people were shot Saturday, four fatally, at a private party held in a downtown restaurant in Buffalo, New York, police said. The dead -- three males and one female -- included a Texas man who was to be married Saturday, those attending the party at the City Grill told CNN affiliate WKBW. Of the four who survived, one had serious injuries, Buffalo police spokesman Michael DeGeorge told CNN. Police are trying to determine whether there was more than one shooter. DeGeorge said "some type of incident" occurred at the party that spilled out onto the street, where the shootings occurred. WKBW said witnesses said as many as 100 people were attending what they described as a formal reception related to a wedding that was to have taken place Saturday afternoon. Police received a call at about 2:30 a.m. from the 200 block of Main Street, DeGeorge said. At that hour, that part of downtown -- removed from Buffalo's entertainment district -- would have been sparsely populated, he said. CNN's Rick Martin contributed to this report. MarkyMannn Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Has to be some real hate there to kill all these people. I would suspect there is more to it. Gangs?

The Senator Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 It sounds like it was a wedding reception. Actually, a post-wedding-rehearsal party - the wedding was to be today at 2 PM, but the groom is one of the deceased (just flew in from Texas yesterday) so I guess the wedding's off. Wonder if it had anything with the Bills performance, or if it was a jealous former boyfriend crashing the party, or just your average, normal family-feud stuff?
Chandler#81 Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Terrible news! Can't help but want to learn more. How the could this have happened?? BTW, BPD needs to find another spokeman. This guy comes a cross as a simpleton.- "ah.. yeah, that's a good question... um.. we're still tryin' to figger out who shoot who and ..ahh..if there was more than one shooter..

He used to do sports on Empire and on WGRZ Ch2...got fired from WGRZ for giving video to an ABC station to use while he was in Philly covering a Bills game
Pete Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 WTF? Weddings are a great time usually. What the hell happened? Any why are people bringing guns to a wedding reception?
Steely Dan Posted August 14, 2010 Author Posted August 14, 2010 Now 5 dead. so Mike DeGeorge is a worse spokesman than he was a sportscaster? <bracing myself from the media outrage> Someone was taken into custody, apparently http://www.buffalonews.com/ Eight people were shot early this morning, five fatally, outside City Grill, a popular Main Street restaurant in the heart of the downtown Buffalo business district. Buffalo police have taken into custody at least one person who may be connected to the violence.
zow2 Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 The father of one of the female victims was interviewed on the Buffalo NEws clip. He said it sounded like some dudes were pissed because they could not get in the bar...due to the party. Then they supposedly got into it with the bouncers and a melee started in the streets and the thugs sprayed the area with gunfire. Not sure why these innocents spilled into the street? or maybe they were fleeing directly into the gunfire (in confusion?). sad, real sad. imo, handguns should be totally illegal except for law enforcement and military.

Yeah, I'm sure the guys doing the shooting had pistol permits and all the guns are properly registered. You're an idiot.
Booster4324 Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Yeah, I'm sure the guys doing the shooting had pistol permits and all the guns are properly registered. You're an idiot®. Fixed, but I agree.

Do you honestly believe that this event wouldn't have occurred if handguns were illegal? Murder is illegal and these punks didn't seem to have any scruples about committing murder, so what convinces you that they'd be amenable to following handgun restriction laws?

Beerball Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Wedding or 1 year anniversary? Tragic either way.
Lt. Dan's Revenge Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 What a terrible incident. It's especially surprising considering it occurred just outside a pretty classy restaurant like that. Pretty scary. To the deceased, RIP.
