On two consecutive series, 3rd and long, Fitz dumped off to a RB for about half the needed yards and we punted. How come he isn't labeled "captain checkdown?"

It just seems to me a lot of posters on this board let personal agenda's and bias dictate.

We should all want whatever QB playing to be successful. If that is not the case, then don't post.

***FWIW, I am not calling you out. I mean this generally, just happened to piggy back your post.

probably because most feel that Fitzpatrick will not start at QB. He's a backup QB - nothing more.

Edwards, however, is likely going to start, so more is expected of him. Unfortunately, practice sessions aside, he doesn't seem to be making any positive strides.

Another factor, IMO, is that some are sick and tired of the continued excuses made on behalf of Edwards. Hence the backlash.

The throw we NEVER see from Trent is the 15-18 yrd pass up the middle of the field. His entire repiture CONTINUES to be (and God knows I hoped this would change) short the the WR, TE or RD on the outside or overthrown bomb to the outside. Trent does not have the courage to throw in the middle.

I completely agree with you. It's as if he had horse blinders on and can't see past 15 yards or so. He telegraph's his intentions and then misfires. He looked okay in the first series, but as soon as Washington put pressure on him, he returned to mediocrity once again.

I thought with all the QB coaching this kid has undergone, he would have made some progress, but he is literally a block head and for some reason cannot or is unwilling to change.

It's going to a be a very long year if TE is our QB and Levi is on the Practice Squad

Has there ever been a player in NFL history, who has received as many opportunities as this guy has, yet continued to fail time and time again? TrINT is going into his 4th season and looks worse than he did as a rookie QB. There has been no progression. I refused to get giddy when all the camp reports were coming back, "TrINT is the man! He's so much more confident out there. He's a leader now." Yes, I realize it was the first preseason game, but I saw in TrINT the same thing I saw in him last year and the year before that and the year before that: Edwards takes the snap, looks immediately for his outlet receiver and throws a pass into his feet. On that third down pass that he threw to Lynch, he had an even better option open further downfield - a WR who would've gotten the first down. TrINT lulls you with his measureables only to disappoint you with his intangibles. I want the guy to succeed as much as anyone else, because I am a Buffalo Bills fan first and foremost, but I think we are in for a deja vu type of season. I hate to bring it up again, but we should've rolled the dice on Clausen at #41. He looked better orchestrating his 1st offensive NFL series, than TrINT looks as a 4th year player..

i hate when someone says something like, "he had a decent first drive"

yes, 3 points.

what did he do after those 3 point? nothing. he sucks so bad.

people please open your eyes and watch the game with no man crush towards trent, he sucks. stop supporting him!!!!!!!!!!!!!

forget the checkdown. he needs to be in ballet. that is where he belongs!!!! trent doesnt have the confidence that fitz has. its very noticeable.

he is scared all the time. of course he will shine in camp when no one is really trying to hurt him.

he can checkdown all day long, if its the right call and doesnt look like a scary girl when he does it. you get it now?

This may be a stupid idea, but at this point, what the hellz. Trent seems to struggle when he gets blitzed and gets that dear in the headlights look. He can't shake this off in games.

So why not let him practice in these situations. Let our D have the go ahead to go after him and knock him on his ass on every pass play. I'm not saying they should kill the guy but let them knock him down. He's been untouched and off limits in practice. He probably gets too used to this. Maybe this way he'll shake off the dear in the headlights mentality. Rough him up a bit and often enough and maybe he'll fight through it and start making some plays. And if he gets injured? Meh, what's the loss at this point?

Something needs to be done with him.

Brilliant idea. We should find a couple guys to hold him down, too. Wonder if they want help?

This is my concern. I still think he has the chance to have a good season and emerge as the starter for the next few years, but my confidence in that wanes not by his overall play, but by his lack of ever throwing the ball 15-20 yards. This represents a gun shy and passive way of playing (hence the Capt. Checkdown) which I think we have seen every since his concussion. He only goes deep when he has big protection and the right coverage, otherwise everything is within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage.

I still think he deserves more time coming out of the cluster-$#@% of last season, and am not one to say the sky is falling, but I agree with thesir that he doesn't just have to do what he is doing a little better with better protection. He has to add something different (the medium pass).

It is on him to prove he can do it in the next couple weeks or I am jumping on the Brohm and the 2011 draft pick bandwagon as well.

Jay P. Losman

2 for 4, 3 yards and a pick.

:wallbash:

Tell the rest of the story, why don't 'cha?

He also rushed twice for 1 yard total.

His longest was for 2 yards.

Man, could we use an offensive machine like him.
