Fezmid
I'm purchasing some cool artwork for my home theater - it's laser-etched aluminum and looks pretty cool. http://www.westsidelaserworks.com/comic-book-related.html I'm getting the two Star Wars pieces, the Serenity piece, and the Iron Man piece. I really like how the frames on the Star Wars ones look -- http://www.westsidelaserworks.com/uploads/...936517_orig.jpg And I was wondering if anybody knows where to buy a frame like that online? We can go to a custom framing store, I'm sure, but that's going to be pretty expensive... Was hoping someone may have stumbled upon frames like at some point. The ones in the picture are custom made by the artist and aren't for sale. (already tried that )

Fezmid
Either you're not married, or you're hanging those up in the garage (which is where my "home theater" is....) I'm married and I'm hanging them up in my real theater. The basement theater is my domain to do whatever I want with. (and she thought they were cool too, so that helped even more ). GoodBye
How about making your own frame? The wood frame doesn't look too difficult to make.

If it doesn't look too difficult to make, how about you make them for me? That's actually what the artist said... But I'm not handy at all. Yes, go find wood shaped like that, cut to size, glue/nail boards together.

I look at your 1st link - frames and artwork combined, which you say you will purchase. In the 2nd link - are you looking to purchase just a frame in that style, to mount something of your own choosing into?
Fezmid
I'm not clear what you are asking. I look at your 1st link - frames and artwork combined, which you say you will purchase. In the 2nd link - are you looking to purchase just a frame in that style, to mount something of your own choosing into? The first link is just showing the artwork available from this place. Although the photos show the art in frames, they do not sell them with the frames - you get the aluminum and some foamcore backing, and that's it. I like the frame they use for the Star Wars pieces -- and would like similar, but haven't been able to find anything. Luckily, Lana has apparently volunteered to make them for me. Sorry I wasn't clear.

Just Jack
They would be easy to make with the right tools. Find a local cabinet maker that does side work. Materials should be cheap, ie under $50 depending on the type of wood.
DrDawkinstein
should be fairly easy to make. id check Ikea too. i have a couple of similar frames from there, but good luck with the sizing. also, what about asking Westside Laser Works directly? they may even sell them with the frames? Fezmid
also, what about asking Westside Laser Works directly? they may even sell them with the frames? I did ask him - he doesn't think his frame's are high enough quality to sell. Ikea is a good idea - I should have my wife check there (I hate that store...) They would be easy to make with the right tools. Find a local cabinet maker that does side work. Materials should be cheap, ie under $50 depending on the type of wood. That's a good idea -- I'll try to do that too and see what happens.

Fezmid
Why do you hate Ikea? The store's huge and you have to walk through the whole thing - you can't run in, grab what you want, and run out. Guys don't like to browse.
