HopsGuy Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 So aside from the great courses we've played around the world, what are your favorite courses in WNY? Glen Oak in East Amherst was a pretty nice public course as I recall.
erynthered Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Rolling Hills? It's in Plantation/Davie FL near my old office. Some of my friends played there, but I never got around to it. I heard it was nice, but not great. Carl Spackler would disagree with you.
Bullpen Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Those be the first courses mentioned I have also played. Beautiful place..every friggen putt pulled by that mountain though huh? ...And quicker than Spiller. One of the marshalls player assistants came by when we were waiting to tee off on a hole and told us when the the Sr PGA came into town two years ago, the PGA officials said they had slow down the greens because they exceeded the stimp meter rating. Now granted this was the Champions tour, but still they had to slow the greens down? Quick story about our round on the east course last month: The snack shack on the 10th tee offers a wide selection of beer. Most beers being sold at $5.50 per 12 oz can. My buddy* spots Busch Lt and Natty Lt for $3.50. He loads up on those and we finish the back nine. Duck into the bar and grill after the round for a quick drink and the rest of us order higher end beers Laughing Lab, Fat Tire, etc... same guy* asks the waiter for Busch Lt again Waiter politely says he check to see. Comes back and informs him that's only offered on the course. Friend UPGRADES to coors light... * the guy makes upwards of 80K a year, but he's just cheap. BTW, we won those rounds of golf for winning a tournament. Four rounds and two carts came to $975.00. Not like we play there regularly.
HopsGuy Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Carl Spackler would disagree with you. Played with Carl once. Dude coulda been a pro, but seemed mildly distracted. It was probably a woman. Lived in Syracuse for 2 years right next to Bellevue Country Club. Finally played the course the day before I left. Pretty nice track.
AxelRipper Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Wait, are you saying you own Ironwood? I love that place. Well close enough... I'm the owner's son
