R. Rich Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 It would appear the Irish recruit coaches as well as they do players.
Greg de'Ville Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 ...what a buffoon this guy is. His "Sunday through Friday" comment when he fired Willingham was classless. Why would Meyer go to Florida? Mebbe because the Gators play in a CONFERENCE (and a real good one at that), a concept foreign to ND football. Wake up the echoes? ND needs to WAKE UP--period. And get in touch with the 21st century rather than continuing to dwell in the Rockne/Leahy glory days.

Alaska Darin Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Memo to Ty: We were kidding. Really. Nice job, ND. Damn.
R. Rich Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Memo to Ty: We were kidding. Really. Nice job, ND. Damn. 144594 Yep. Damn.
Greg de'Ville Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 While I totally agree with the living off of tradtion point, what does playing in a conference have to do with it? 144585 Because being an independent no longer cuts it, not in this day and age. ND would have been a great add to the Big Ten a few years back, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Memo to ND: If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.
bartshan-83 Posted December 3, 2004 Author Posted December 3, 2004 Memo to Ty: We were kidding. Really. Nice job, ND. Damn. 144594 yeah no sh--. Egg all over our faces just like 3 years ago. What a screwup. Even if we do land Butch Davis, who is a good college coach, it is just the principle that ND swung and whiffed AGAIN. Embarrassing....

How does it not "cut it"? Im not tryin to be smart, just curious.

Embarrassing.... 144612 You know Bart, if there wasn't that whole superiority complex thing at Notre Dame, where they believe they are bigger than college football, I may have felt bad about it. But that, coupled with the way Willingham was offered up like a sacrificial lamb, and I have none. They deserve this. Now, does it mean they're all done for? Absolutely not. They've bounced back before and I'm sure they'll do so again. The tough part starts with realizing that Notre Dame is NOT bigger than college football. Once that happens, they'll be right back in business.
Greg de'Ville Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Again, I do not know what you mean. How does it not "cut it"? Im not tryin to be smart, just curious. 144617 Read this comment--pretty damning, wouldn't you say? The Palm Beach Post said Meyer's father, Bud, talked to his son about picking Florida over Notre Dame. "I told him, if he wants to win, go to Florida." Meyer's father told the Post. "The probability of winning at Florida immediately is higher. Unless he's still drawn to the aura of Notre Dame, the better job is Florida. ... It's just a football coaching job, going wherever he can win. If you go where you can't win, you won't be coaching long." Looks like father knows best, eh?
mead107 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 how did all the post get back on ? i did hit the delete button

They ceased being a viable football school sometime in the 80s.
