Since my hearing sucks, I watch a lot of movies with sub-titles, and never have an issue....Now, I rented The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and this one I NEED sub-titles since it's a foreign film, but I'm having a problem:

The bottom of my screen is not showing the 2nd line if there are two lines of sub-titles........I have 46 inch HDTV, and the screen looks like it looks when I am watching a non HD channel sometimes or it goes to a non HD commercial......the actual picture is smaller and surrounded by a black frame.

Somehow the 2nd line of sub-titles is going down below the black frame (I can see the tops of the letters).......Anybody know how to fix this?

You may be in "zoom" or some other such format. If there is a "Format" button on your remote, it's an easy fix. If not, you'll have to search for the way to adjust it.

Whatever you do... DO NOT call tech support!

I don't even know what tech support to call - blockbuster??

Thanks - I'll try to figure that out......Part of my problem is that I have two remotes and I never know which one is really working. My universal remote or my verizon one?

You will probably need the original remote for the TV, unless you have a very good universal remote.

I actually did call Blockbuster after I couldn't find anything in my manual or on the remote about zoom........And, the first thing he brought up was the zoom.

I still can't find anything about zoom, but I finally fixed this thing. I had to go into some sort of settings and change it from 4:3 to 16:9 - whatever the hell that means.........But, now it did the trick.

So, it looks to me like even though I've never had this issue before, I should keep it at 16:9 and not the defaulted 4:3, since my TV is high def?:

Two common videographic aspect ratios are 4:3 (1.33:1), universal for standard-definition video formats, and 16:9 (1.78:1), universal to high-definition television and European digital television.

That's what I meant by changing the format. I was about to say (in addition to "zoom") "4:3, etc." :worthy:

Good, you don't need them (tech support)!

May I suggest plan B:

Tell them (BlockBuster) to get the new version...

"The film became available on DVD and Blu-ray on July 6, 2010 in North America. The DVD includes both the original Swedish-language version and an English-language dubbed version."

If that doesn't work, plan C:

Link to plan C!

Like my nice use of the Swedish colors...

hmmm. very strange. why would you require subtitles for what's obviously a porn flick?

I watch porn for the plot lines.....

from what i hear, the plot lines are pretty simple. and, on occasion, someone gets screwed in the end.
