tomdayfan Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 They only strung us along for nine years Bass Pro says no
zevo Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 it was a stupid idea anyways. Time for a world class NFL stadium downtown!
erynthered Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 But the years passed. It took longer to fulfill Masiello's challenge than it took NASA to meet President John F. Kennedy's challenge in 1961 to land a man on the moon and return him safely to the Earth. Anyone else not surprised?
DaGimp Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 it was a stupid idea anyways. Time for a world class NFL stadium downtown! make sure it has a dome and a water park in it as well
KD in CA Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 it was a stupid idea anyways. Time for a world class NFL stadium downtown! Come on, don't every city's redevelopment plans get strung along for 9 years by a fishing store? Another feather in the cap for local government!
ricojes Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 They only strung us along for nine yearsBass Pro says no Noooooooooo, how will the City survive?????????????? On a positive note, at least it was motivation to finally tear down the Aud...
DC Tom Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Come on, don't every city's redevelopment plans get strung along for 9 years by a fishing store? Another feather in the cap for local government! Of course, this all masks the central problem that the centerpiece of the city's redevelopment was a frickin' fishing store to begin with.
bbb Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Actually, it was a good idea 9 years ago, when it was more than just a fishing store: "They only open one store in a given region, and if they select Buffalo, we would have the only Bass Pro Shop in the Northeast," Masiello said in 2001. Since then, Bass Pro has opened stores in Auburn and near Toronto. Bass Pro also has shops in Harrisburg, Pa.; Toledo, Ohio; and Cincinnati.
Just Jack Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Come on, don't every city's redevelopment plans get strung along for 9 years by a fishing store? Another feather in the cap for local government! For Syracuse it was a mall expansion. Supposed to be completed in 2004, they didn't start building until 2009. Currently just a big empty cement structure. They only built it to keep their tax deal, didn't even have any stores lined up to go into it.
stevestojan Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Damn! And I've been carrying around a can of Skoal in my back jeans pocket for months to get a nice ring so I would fit in. Oh well, lesson learned. There goes Buffalo's economy...
Chalkie Gerzowski Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Damn! And I've been carrying around a can of Skoal in my back jeans pocket for months to get a nice ring so I would fit in. ExiledInIllinois Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Come on, don't every city's redevelopment plans get strung along for 9 years by a fishing store? Another feather in the cap for local government! Considering that BFLO sits next to the worlds largest frehwater fishery (Lake Erie)... Not too surprising that BFLO got strung along by a fishing store. No? The this is the same body of water that was officially declared "dead" in 1970. So... All jokes aside.
Ramius Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Come on, don't every city's redevelopment plans get strung along for 9 years by a fishing store? Another feather in the cap for local government! The real question for the city now is how they are going to find an excuse to keep paying 15 friends and family members $75K + full benefits for being on the "bass pro exploratory natural historical preservation and research site development team for the greater buffalo metropolitan area subcommittee."
ExiledInIllinois Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 The real question for the city now is how they are going to find an excuse to keep paying 15 friends and family members $75K + full benefits for being on the "___________ exploratory natural historical preservation and research site development team for the greater buffalo metropolitan area subcommittee." Easy... No problem, I corrected it for you. All they have to do is fill in the blank.
KD in CA Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Easy... No problem, I corrected it for you. All they have to do is fill in the blank. How about "Asian Carp"?
