stevewin
I read another report that Johnson dropped a "good amount" of balls in individual drills and Easly had a bad day - "dropped possibly half" balls thrown his way. Did you see this?
C.Biscuit97
"Done" doesn't mean he'll get cut. I think he was done the day we drafted him. He's a pompiss, undersized, arrogant child. I wish his heart was half the size of his mouth. I really apperciate the report but this sounds liek you have a bias against Maybin. He is a 21 year old who gets excited to play football. Also, please don't tell me he is arrogant because he has a twitter account either. Either way, thanks for the report but I really don't get the anger at Maybin unless it's personal. billsfan89
I still need to see Trent stay healthy and know that he has the lockeroom (He kinda lost them at the end of last season because they responded more to Fitz at the end of last season). C.Biscuit97
Wow. That doesn't surprise me at all. In fact, I get amazed that as many go as they do. I'm about as big of a Bills fan as there is and played football through college. But I absolutely hate training camp. It is the most boring, monotonous thing ever. I hated every second of training camp. Let's jsut start the games.

True, but winning does solve all. Trent was a god after the 5-1 start two year ago around Bills country and in the lockerroom. I can't say I would be thrilled if Trent started but he has had his moments. And considering Chan did wonders with Fiedler and Kordell Stewart, I won't completely discount him being an improved player.
WordByrd
I still like Brohm and think he has a lot of potential, however, like I have always said I will fully support Trent if Chan figures out how to mold him into a good QB. I have not been impressed with him at all and the fact that he looks good in camp is getting old too. If he can come out and lead our offense to points in the preseason I will start holding out hope again, but just looking good in practice is something I have heard often with him just to see it not translate to the games. Every year we hear how good he looks and how the offense looks dangerous during practice (same with Roscoe). Then the season starts and all of a sudden we frequently have drives that consist of a 2 yard run, and two complete passes for 6 yards for a 3 and out punt on 4th and 2. End of game stats has Trent completing 70% of his passes but he still only has 160 yards (with only 5 total targets to our WR's all game), maybe 1 TD, a fumble, and a pick, all of which leads to a 24-13 loss. So, if Trent can turn it around and figure out how to command a game and lead this team under Chan, then great, but I need to see it in a game before I will believe it. All I want is a good QB, I dont care who it is. I dont have a lot of faith in Trents moxy to pull this off, but hopefully Chan can bring it out of him or one of our other guys. I agree, Alpha. I believe that a lot of what we'll see from Trent will be a direct result of what Chan does. I can only imagine Trent will improve because Chan will teach him, and bring him confidence. BillsVet
I don't think there's any reason to doubt Tim Graham's report (wish he was still with us on TBD) about the opening practice attendance. We're constantly told that the NFL is the most popular sport in the US, and I don't think it's any different in WNY. For fans to shun camp it's not a good sign, and makes me wonder what the ST sales total will amount to. Now, if people suddenly show up this weekend then maybe fan interest is just normal for a rebuilding team. If not, I think it's a result of hype not being fulfilled year after year. Did you see this? I was not impressed with Easley. He didn't seem to care whether he caught it or not. Stevie was full-go the whole practice. I only saw Stevie drop one pass (underthrown by Fitz). I'd say dropping a "good amount" of balls is false unless I missed it (which I'm 99.9% sure I didn't). Stevie looked like a vet. He seemed to lead the receivers along with Lee. I noticed Roscoe playing a large role in the practice as well, but he did not lead like Stevie.

There was a very small crowd today. I think Buddy has a master plan that is finally intelligent. He's not trying to go get it all at once. I think he's hoping to field a .500 team this year, maybe a 10 win team next year, and a superbowl contending team in his 3rd year. I can really see that happening because I think he's making well thought out decisions, and I think Chan is a good coach. Thoughts?
DarthICE
Why would the lack of attendance suprise anyone? We didn't address the most important position on any NFL team, they have a guy there that fans booed when he hit the field last and cheered when he got hurt. Many feel Spiller is a wasted pick ( I don't by any stretch think that...) Many didn't like the Nix Gailey hiring. Money is way too hard to come by these days to spend to go watch the same old **** year after year. Until this team starts WINNING I can see attendance being down. Ticket sales this year are expected to be among the top 10 in team history despite a 15 percent increase for a team that hasn't reached the postseason in more than a decade, has no established quarterback and a new coach who failed to move the needle. Bills fans are the best.

I mean its not rocket surgery to figure out. So the right thing to do was take a QB at #9 who didn't go until the 48th pick? Good call. And didn't you see the polls on here on Clausen? Fro a team that really needed a QB, it was at least 50-50 on the guy and probably more towards the negative. Clausen ain't moving units. Tim Tebow on the other hand is a different story. eball
Thank you for the report and I encourage more of the same. I don't even really care about the content; it's just great to hear from fans who have the ability to go out to camp and watch our boys.
K-9
Now before anyone gets their shorts all knotted up in a bunch, please know I am NOT comparing Maybin to the greatest outside LB in team history (with apologies to Mike Stratton). I will simply say that in one on one drills Bennett got his ass handed to him more than once by the likes of Wilford, Ballard, etc. A behemoth tackle SHOULD domindate a much smaller man in that confined space. Let's all take a look when they line up and our Ts have to contend with a DE and Maybin operating in space. Maybin's got a lot to learn, no doubt. He looked lost last season. But he does have some physical gifts that can be exploited if he can take advantage of them. It's on him and the coaches to make that happen. He may end up riding pine but there's a lot to look at before that decision is made. Nothing definitive can be determined based on a drill on the first day of his second camp as a pro. That said, thanks for the report, WordByrd. Good stuff. Keep 'em coming. GO BILLS!!!
Whites Bay
Hey WordByrd, a couple of players of note on the O-line, please. How looked Bell? How looked Wood? Thanks very much for the reporting. The news about Maybin is disturbing - not so much that he's either skinny or ripped. That's subjective. What's disturbing is hearing that he's getting tossed on his ass by the O-line. Getting tossed on your ass isn't subjective. That doesn't bode well.

I mean its not rocket surgery to figure out. Very good point. They should have taken Clausen at 41 and OT Davis at 9. The we would have our LT and QB. The stands would be packed with excited. Not to mention Chan to mold them with his toughness and offensive creativity. Wow win or loose this board would be oozing with excitement. Instead we have no QB or LT. Same old Trent when it's game time wil panic, lose confidence, blame others, get hurt, and check down time after time. No wonder why "we" all our excited about Brohm. I think the Meredith/Bell battle will be a good one. Meredith looks like he's in good shape and moving very well also. I think Meredith could surprise.
