Spiller was the most explosive offensive threat drafted in 2010. In need of a playmaker at wide receiver, the Bills surprised many when they selected the multi-dimensional Spiller with the ninth overall pick. The Bills have a crowded RB depth chart that features Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch, and it could be challenging for Spiller to achieve 10 touchdowns on the ground this season. However, coach Chan Gailey stated that Spiller could split out wide as a receiver in certain packages, which would create matchup problems for the opposition and open another avenue to get him involved in the offense; the result is more opportunities to reach paydirt.

Said Bills GM Buddy Nix, on Spiller's ability to get in the end zone: "He's a playmaker. He's a guy that creates field position and scores points. He's exciting. We need some excitement, somebody that can make a big play and create some things on their own."

Seems quite high, especiially if that is not total TD's (includes KR/PR)

Desean Jackson was amazing last year and he ended up with 9 offensive TD's.

I would obviously be thrilled with CJ getting to the house 10 times, but I would not count on it.

I say 8-10 times is realistic. Let's say he gets 15 opportunities per game, that comes out to 240 in a season. Getting a TD one out of every 24 times you touch the ball is definitely realistic IMO, especially for a player of his caliber.

He has yet to play a single NFL game.

Maybe let's get him signed first, before anyone anoints him the next Eric Dickerson.

I think it's nice to see the press say we might actually score this season.

If Eric Dickerson was three feet shorter and twice as good, he would be C.J. Spiller.

I agree 100%. I would rather he sign on the dotted line first before I get my hopes up.

Sounds like Buddy knows his offensive line pretty well.

Something further on in the article:

... Be the 2010 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year: C.J. Spiller, RB, Buffalo Bills

Since 1969, the Offensive Rookie of the Year award has been handed to a running back 39 times. But, over the past seven years, a running back has won the award twice; Falcons QB Matt Ryan (2008) and Vikings WR Percy Harvin (2009) were the most recent honorees. If you believe in trends, note that the running back position has never been shut out from the award in three consecutive years. The last running back to win the award was Vikings RB Adrian Peterson in 2007. There are scouts who believe Spiller will have the kind of impact Peterson had during his rookie season when he rushed for 1,341 yards and 12 touchdowns.

That is very encoruaging
