John Adams Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 How many passes do you think he dropped? Especially compared to other seasons in his HOF career? You dance for me monkey, not the other way around. How many?
Doc Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 You dance for me monkey, not the other way around. How many? hey, yu made the statement "If TO caught half the passes he dropped, he probably has a 1,000 yard season and a few more TDs." Now back it up, monkey. Come now, you must have had a number in mind.

Now back it up, monkey. Come now, you must have had a number in mind. He had 9, 4th most in the NFL. At least two were 50 yarders. And then the nice problem of the QB not looking your way because you keep dropping his passes. Drops matter. TO is over.

Which is about what he's dropped annually thoughout his career. But his QB's still keep coming back to him. BTW, who were the guys who dropped more passes (I need a link to a good stat site)? Are they currently unemployed?

BTW, who were the guys who dropped more passes? Are they currently unemployed? Drops are one thing. Half assing on balls thrown your way is another. He gave up on a lot of balls last year. Drops piss me off but they happen. There is ZERO excuse for not fighting for a football. None. Bottomline is TO can make some plays. However, do you want to pay a guy $6 million who still thinks he is a star, drops alot of key passes, doesn't give full effort, and has destroyed lockerrooms in the past? If I'm running a team, I won't touch TO with a 10 foot pole. Besides, it might interfere with his television career now.

If I'm running a team, I won't touch TO with a 10 foot pole. Besides, it might interfere with his television career now. How many passes did TO not fight for? There were some, but I also saw him fight for quite a few, because not all of the ones he caught were great throws. And I saw Evans not fighting for balls as well. And Josh Reed dropped a lot of passes he previously would have caught. Looked to me like generalized frustration by the receivers as a whole. I realize that TO is not the same player he was. But the Bills need all the talent they can get, and his 55 catches for 829 yards and 6 TD's tells me he can still play. He won't cost probably more than $5M. And with the way he bit his tongue last year after his catch streak ended (for no apparent reason), it tells me he has learned to keep his mouth shut.
Doc Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Let's leave it at this: You're right. 32 NFL GMs and me are wrong. Someone will sign him. And 31 other GM's were wrong about Moss when he was with Oakland, so, it happens.
crazyDingo Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Besides, it might interfere with his television career now. Shouldn't be a problem for long.
TheChimp Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Owens was open practically all season and consistently got behind defenders on deep routes. Exactamundo! And even if he got the ball thrown to him only 50% of those times, and he DID drop 50% of the balls thrown to him in those situations, he'd have been up there among the league leaders yet again.
Búfalo Blanco Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Yes, because his play was the only factor effecting his stats. Stop making sense with these people, dude... I think we all know that T.O. is washed up.. because based off the juggernaut offense, record-level depth and offensive scheme genius of the legendary Jauron-led Buffalo Bills, Owens should have had 120 rec. 1800 yds. and 20 TDs... How the Colts got past us to represent the AFC, I'll never know... Seriously though, this subject will all be for naught and completely forgotten when a receiver goes down in training camp for some team and T.O. is quickly scooped up... I would imagine that if you put T.O. on a team with a true #1 like a Larry Fitzgerald or Andre Johnson etc. and an offense ranked decently, he'd get more than 829 yds and 6 overall tds... even at age 36. But, hey, due to past faults of his own along with a sport's media determined to exaggerate his dirty laundry and constantly report negativity about him, the public has decided its just easier to hate on him... regardless of his stats on the field...
Mr. WEO Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Someone will sign him. And 31 other GM's were wrong about Moss when he was with Oakland, so, it happens. The 31 GMs knew he wasn't washed up, but in his prime. They didn't want to deal with his attitude. The 32 GMs, thus far, and per his own claim, are not concerned about his personality disorder. They think he's at the end of his career. There's a difference, you know.

Sorry but 55 catches for 829 yards and 6 TD's says otherwise. Continuing to claim he's at the end of his career after coming off a season like that, in a putrid offense no less, is silly.

Surely the GMs aren't influenced by some made up stories in the press.... He wants too much money? How can that be? I doubt he wants more than the 6.5 mil the Bills paid him last year--and that was a bargain right? For all the relevance he brings? What was your position on this one again?

CIN talked with him a couple of months ago, now he and his agent have evidently become persistent pests. TO certainly dripping with money, but if he can con somebody into forking over several millions to him, he would be happy to take the checks. So far no takers, but the NFL is show biz, and some clubs' marketing man might think it would jazz up ticket sales.

Well, it certainly wasn't something silly like "he's at the end of his career," after posting 55 catches for 829 yards and 6 TD's, to lead his team. Most likely since he's complaining about how he's perceived (which I've admitted he bears responsibility for), it's that, along with his initial salary demands. But again, he'll be signed by someone.
Búfalo Blanco Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Yepper... T.O. sure is all washed up now, isn't he...? I guess the reigning AFC North champs disagree... but I doubt they have a better idea on what a player has left than a Fox Sports journalist...

I guess the reigning AFC North champs disagree... but I doubt they have a better idea on what a player has left than a Fox Sports journalist... You should doubt it. This is a team that brought in Larry Jouhnson and Matt Jones. Also they brought back Chris Henry. But, hey, when you have one of the worst passing offenses in the league last year, why not bring in TO to help turn it around? That should work, right?
ganesh Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Washed up is a vague term... Is TO the same player as he was 10 years ago...Probably Not...Is he better than many of the productive WRs in the NFL...Probably Yes....He is a hard worker and usually that will pay off.
