show_me_the_baby
because of some quote from an "anonymous source" through Bills Daily? Wasn't it Bills Daily that said the Gaither trade was a done deal not too long ago? What a joke. Honestly, I don't even think Gailey has fully decided yet who will be on top starting training camp and whoever is on top is certainly no lock for starter. I don't know of anyone saying he is a "lock" to start. But he is the obvious frontrunner because he has the most experience on the roster as far as starts go....... so it is just speclation out of all 3 guys, edwards has done the most. Granted it isn't much..... but it out of this crop, there isn't much competition. Unless Brohm shows some flash of genius (highly unlikely in the timeframe I think), Edwards is more than likely the starter.

Because Fitz sucks and Brohm was so bad no other team in the league wanted him after he was cut by Green Bay last year... Edwards is the starter. End of story. Let's hope checkdown gameplan was Jauron and his collection of not ready for prime time offensive coordinators. If Edwards is not the answer we can look forward to 2-14 and our pick of Locher, Luck, or Mallet.

Most are saying that Edwards will enter camp as the number 1 QB but that the others will be given an opportunity to win the job. No one has said TE is a lock for the starter. No one of credibility that is. Most people on these boards read and write at the 3rd grade level. Most do not know how to translate the sentences that they read into thoughts intended by the writer and produce reliable conclusions.

It's fair enough that he seems to be the front-runner, but most of us know that nothing's decided till Gailey says it is.

reddogblitz
Let's hope checkdown gameplan was Jauron and his collection of not ready for prime time offensive coordinators. If Edwards is not the answer we can look forward to 2-14 and our pick of Locher, Luck, or Mallet. What team have you been watching for the last 3 years? The checkdown gameplan is ALL ON TRENT !! There have been WRs running free in the secondary for the last 2 years. You can clearly see it if you go to the game. If not, you can hear the announcers on radio (Kelso) or on TV (Jaws and Rich Gannon) talking about it. That's why Trent was benched. The coaches got tired of telling all week to throw downfield only for him to refuse to do it on Sunday. He starts every year heaving it downfield with good results only to quit around week 3 or 4 and then to be injured around week 5 or 6. I was at the season opener vs Seahawks in 2008 and the game against the Bucs in 2009. He was heaving it downfield hitting to Evans and TO for long gainers and TDs. Then it stopped, why? It's Trent I tell ya. As far as games where Trent is not the answer goes, in 10 games last year Trent did not lead the team in passing yards. Of those, Fitz did for 9. In those 9 games we were 5-4. Including 2 against divisional opponents and one in a blizzard. When was the last time anyother Bills QB beat a divisional opponent or won a snow game? In games Trent led the team in passing yards we were 1-5. Looks to me like if Trent is the man we have our best chance of going 2-14 and getting Locker, Luck, or Mallet. I'm praying every night and morning and crossing my fingers and carrying a bag of mojo arond my neck in hopes it will prevent Trent from being named the starter against the Fish on opening day. A few people are implying he is a lock by the way they are posting and plastering stats and making predictions and all of that garbage, you know. People have done the same with Brohm and Fitz, so what? All three QBs have stats, rules, and past situaion threads on all three QBs. They are not implying they are a "lock." They are creating conversation as to what would happen if this person is the QB, or arguing which QB would be better. Some of the people who created the edwards threads also created the brohm threads. Are they both "locks?" I mean, look at some of this stuff besides Edwards: Brohm: Brian Brohm believes he is ready to be the Bills starter http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/index.php?showtopic=115402 Brian Brohm Wll Never Have a Better Chance To Start http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/index.php?showtopic=115583 Good recent Brohm interview http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/index.php?showtopic=115377 Fitz Fitzpatrick starting QB!! http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/index.php?showtopic=115479 The 26-27-60 Rule, How to predict QB success http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/index.php?showtopic=115485 Couple thoughts on qb Fitz http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/index.php?showtopic=115490 Granted, a lot of this stuff some people are not declaring one of them is a lock for starter. But it is just about the same as posting Edwards stats and asking the Question: "edwards the next starter?" That is a question. Not declaring edwards to be a "lock." I know there are a lot of threads on all of the qbs etc etc thank you for pointing all of that out. My point is that with some recent unsubstantiated hear say and summertime guesswork by fans that Trent will be on top of the pecking order in training camp, many are making the assumption that he will be the starter on opening day and going from there. People are doing this. You know it, I know it. They need to stop doing it. No one knows who will start opening day at this point.

DanInUticaTampa
People are doing this. You know it, I know it. I don't. I don't know how making a thread about a player and posting stats implies he will be a "lock as starter." Edwards is clearly the favorite, but I don't see anyone declaring edwards the starter anymore than they are declaring brohm or fitz. I just don't see it. There might be like.... one person somewhere on this board that said it once. But It doesn't seem to be something that many people have seen here. I think you are just interpreting what people are saying wrong.

My personal opinion is that DJ likes dare I say LOVES the check down, and encouraged his QB to use them. Also the season would start with a healthy O-line and by week 3 we are starting FA's. I'm not saying TE is the answer, but I wonder how much he was the actual cause.
