LeviF Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Link Missed already by Yankees and baseball fans around the world. He was 99.
KD in CA Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 His audio recording still is used to introduce Jeter before each at-bat at home by the Yankees captain. That's pretty cool. RIP to a legend.
SageAgainstTheMachine Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 I don't know why, but this just crushes me. He was 99, but it felt like he was immortal, I guess. You know Jeter's gonna knock one out of the park for him tonight. RIP Bob
bbb Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 I thought it was so cool that the Yankees kept him on, even when he was 95+ years old.........."Your attention please, ladies and gentlemen, now batting....."............I loved hearing that!
CowgirlsFan Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Link Missed already by Yankees and baseball fans around the world. He was 99. He was TOP CLASS and his passing is the ONLY reason to feel sorry for the Yankee organization.
bills_fan Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Yep...RIP Bob. http://www.contursi.freeyellow.com/basebal...tinglyintro.wav
SageAgainstTheMachine Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 As somebody mentioned, we'll still hear Sheppard's voice at Yankee Stadium whenever Jeter comes to bat. I can only imagine how emotional Jeet's final at-bat is going to be. It's something I sort of look forward to from a cathartic perspective. Anybody remember Paul O Neill's final game at Yankee Stadium during the 2001 World Series? I remember being in tears for more than a few minutes.

Though I do hate the Yankess, and have a strond dislike for Jeter. That is something I will watch just to capture the moment, and the 15 min standing O he will rightfully receive. With all that said I have to go roll my self in mud to get this positive Yankee moment off of me.

The guy is a class act, great role model for kids, and an awesome player. It's hard not to root for a guy like that in today's sports era.

I honsetly think that if he is not a Yankee, i have no issue with him.

Great player, better guy.
stevestojan Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Not a Yankees fan, but that voice will never be matched. And Jeter is a class act for keeping him "alive" in the stadium.
