SageAgainstTheMachine
this is pretty cool to see how good he really is The greatest relief pitcher of all time, and he's not slowing down even at the age of 40. His cutter has dropped from 95 mph to 93 mph over the course of a 15 year career, and that's the only difference between 25-year old Mariano and 40-year old Mariano. Amazing. Just look at his stats, he's just as good as he ever was, maybe better. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/riverma01.shtml Also the best postseason pitcher of all time. Is he the most dominant athlete at his position in the history of American sports? I think you could make that case. And to think, the Yankees almost traded him in the minor leagues. Phlegm Alley
I remember watching Mariano in his MLB. They worked him as a starter before moving him to the pen.

San Jose Bills Fan
Also, I can't remember a pitcher, starting or relief, who has broken as many bats as has Rivera. For any left-handed hitter it would take a great deal of courage just to stand in against Rivera…knowing that cutter was coming into your hands.
