Cheeseburger_in_paradise Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 I'm visiting Austin for the first time in a couple of years. I might stay a spell. Kick my shoes off. Any Austinites out there these days?

I've been there once, but I see James McMurtry is playing at the Continental club tonight at midnight. Highly recommended - but think about taking ear plugs. My ears were ringing for 8 hours after I saw him and Jon Dee Graham there.

Nope not here but here are some ideas from an Arlington resident. The Capitol....LBJ Museum...6th St for fun...The University of Texas Campus...A minor league baseball team of the Houston Astros in Round Rock.
aussiew Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 6th Street all the way - lots of clubs and good restaurants. Austin touts itself as the music capital. Definitely try the barbecue. Try and see "the bats" just ask anyone where the bat bridge is. Christians Tailgate near downtown is the local Bills bar. You'll probably only see some Bills flags on the wall since it's not the season yet. Have fun!
