Not even.  The law simply exists to let Microsoft know what they can and can't talk about in public...

So you're saying that Gates is illegally downloading movies and gets away with it only because he doesn't publicly talk about it?

No, he asked his mom, and she said it was OK.

Mostly because he leaves his door open and she drives him to work and hockey games.

poor kid has his computer in his bedroom and always leaves the door open... I really should point him to some quality porn sites... Believe me, his days of downloading Hollywood movies will come to an end post-haste.

But is it illegal to download? Aren't those images copyrighted as well? Aren't you depriving a photographer/magazine/etc from their money?

Stop trying to turn the kid into a felon!

Tracy asked how to help her son DL movies from Kazaa.

Some of us helped her, some explained how Illegal it is, some questioned her parenting, and others fought.

Enter BF_In_Indiana. Explaining his contribution to the thread is like explaining what the middle of a chicken mcnugget is acutally made of. He actually mentioned Artest. I believe its around pages 8-10, but it is definitely worth reading.

Then, Tracy said "I dont think it's illegal, but I do think its illegal" or something similar, sending us all in a tailspin. She mentioned matress tags.

We explained the difference, and that it is illegal to DL copywrited things, and she finally admitted it, but still said she wouldn't stop.

And now we're here....

Thanks. This saved me from reading 43 pages. BTW, can anyone tell me the easiest way to download movies? I want to burn them to dvd, and sell them on eBay. B)

In brief: Ron Artest is perfectly entitled to beat the crap out of someone who throws a beer at him, but he shouldn't lift a finger if you steal his rap CD, because since it's illegal but unenforcable, it's legal.
