BillsPride12
My grandfather took a bullet in the ass during the Korean war. I remember asking him if it hurt? He said "not as much as the teasing from his buddies". Much respect for these guys. + Respect.
stuckincincy
Anyone recollect why the name was changed from Decoration Day, in the early '70's? Do the AmVets etc. still sell lapel poppies? - I haven't seen that for years
Just Jack
Anyone recollect why the name was changed from Decoration Day, in the early '70's? After World War I, the day was expanded to honor those who have died in all American wars. In 1971, Memorial Day was declared a national holiday by an act of Congress. The name "Memorial Day" was first used in the late 1800s, but was not declared the official name by federal law until 1967. http://www.delmarvanow.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a.../NEWS01/5310314
