I don't have a clue why anyone would be offended by what Lynch said in that article. I actually think that he hit a new maturity level. I didn't take it as him making excuses or alibis, it sounded like he took responsibility to me. I don't feel sorry for him but I bet he does get persecuted in ways that most of us would never have to endure, from being a high profiled African-American athlete in a small market who has made too many mistakes. The best thing that Lynch could do is to come out publicly and take responsibility for his past mistakes and then bury himself in all kinds of community charities. The guy would be forgiven and be hailed as a hero in a city like Buffalo.

Well, I'm black and have felt direct prejudice from the NYPD, although I'm not a millionaire (yet) with a red X on my back, which would make it even easier. To say that Marshawn has reaped what he has sewn is unjust. I myself am an outstanding citizen who has always followed the law, yet, in the 20 months that I've been living in NYC, I've been pulled over 5 times. In the 12 years prior to living here - driving around Chicago, Michigan, and all of Texas - I was pulled over 0 times. I was at a point where I felt like once I got in my car, I became an escaped fugitive. I can only imagine how much worse the situation would be if I was a 'known' individual who had past transgressions with the law. The race card cannot always be played, but there are times in which it is definitely a factor. To turn your nose up at what Lynch is saying, is either being naive and/or pig headed...

it almost sounds like lynch has been "scarred straight" by the blatant racists of buffalo.

The article certainly paints an ugly picture for the city.

It does sound like he has learned his lesson and has decided to rededicate himself to the game, which is what we all wanted to hear. If he can get back to form we will have a ridiculously good running game

I always liked your posts, no longer. Now that I know you are black that changes everything. /many posters.

it's probably the "gun" thing that make people think he's a thug? :censored:

Well then, I guess I work with a lot of "thugs." And with the way things are going, may end up one myself. And I'm not even close to being as high profile as Lynch.

I totally agree with this as well. Whenever I go back home (I live in Florida), I can't get over the level of racism. I think Marshawn is overreacting, and certainly hasn't helped himself with his conduct, but it's tough to excuse that bigot cop or the scumbag drunk throwing a beer at his car.

Everyone was calling McGahee a thug too, and he didn't get so much as a parking ticket. He got sent to the anus of the universe (Baltimore), and was elated to go there rather than Buffalo.

What is so embarrassing? My only thing is that he doesn't seem to realize the reason they don't want him with dogs is because he has 2 pit bulls, which are actually not mean dogs at all until they are trained by their owners to be so...however, with his reputation what it is, I am sure they were not wanting to take a wait and see approach as to how the dogs were going to grow up. At least he has a good attitude about the whole situation and that can only help...Gailey being what he is I'm sure will find a way to utilize all three of the backs...I wouldn't be surprised to see Spiller line up in the slot a lot to be a matchup nightmare for the LB that draws him in coverage and have both Lynch and Jackson in the backfield...not like we have a lot of better options at WR than what Spiller could likely do...

I applaud the HOA. It would be crazy for them to allow someone as immature and with the kind of track record as Lynch to be able to train and keep pit bulls.

Appropos for nothing, in Pittsburgh, Joey Porter's pit bulls "escaped" and killed a freakin' horse.

Great. Now he's "training" pit bulls.

thats an embarrassing article for all sides involved

Indeed.

I haven't been a Marshawn fan, basically since the gun incident and especially since the $20 incident. He still has a lot to prove, IMHO.

But that's depressing, seeing that someone threw a beer can at him. I hate to hear that.

The pit bulls incident in interesting too. I wouldn't want one, much less two, of those dogs around. But if other neighbors really have dogs, why couldn't Marshawn get a less fearsome breed and keep one or two? Anyway, I always try to root for Bills players. Hope he turns things around.

What you're missing at the end of that statement is "...as a rookie."

The article does not say "as a rookie".

Gailey has stated he covets a water bug/hybrid type player. That's what he got in Spiller.

Why do people insist on trying to make Spiller something more than what he is?

It's comparable to people who keep insisting the Bills goal is to move Levitre to LT, despite the FO stating they like Levitre right where he's at, and that moving him to LT would leave 2 OL spots weakened instead of one.

So if a white running back got caught smoking weed with an unregistered weapon within 6 months after being involved in alleged intoxicated hit-and-run incident, would I be racist if I called him a thug?

If they wouldn't take a 3rd rounder for him I can only imagine what garbage they were offering for Gaither

Nix has said all along that he intends to build through the draft. Trading high picks for a guy who can't play tackle for the Ravens does not fit that plan. Now if the Raiders want to give us a 3rd for Lynch, take it! It will be -- and always will be -- a high one.

"As a rookie" was implied. With 2 starting caliber backs, they can/will ease him in slowly and let him increase his strength, size, and conditioning over the year. Although the fact these days is that teams aren't riding 1 RB as a workhorse anymore anyway.

He's a thug. I'm not one of the crazed Buffalonians who hold that against him or anything, but a thug is a thug. You would call a duck a duck if you saw one, so I don't really see the point in trying to spin him differently by saying, "had the hit and run never happened". Well it did. And I still would have called him a thug if it didn't. None of this sways my support for the guy, but come one with trying to paint him like a saint.

“When I’m out, I’m real cautious about what I do,” Lynch said." -He actually said that. We're supposed to be proud because he's now acting like every other person when they go out? He now looks for people crossing the road, and smokes his weed indoors? I'm sick of the race card being played like its AA. Nothing this guy did helped. The city didn't have it out for him, we just started calling a thug, a thug.

THE REAL DEFINITION OF THE WORD THUG

thug (thg)

n.

1. A cutthroat or ruffian; a hoodlum.

2. also Thug One of a band of professional assassins formerly active in northern India who worshiped Kali and offered their victims to her.

Please connect that definition of the word thug to Marshawn because to me calling him an assassin is hilarious. A ruffain or hoodlum is pretty funny to..

This is what YOU really wanna want the word THUG to stand for but your to scared to say it..

Thug (thg)

n

1. Aggressive black person

2. Has dreads/braids, gold teeth and listens to hip hop music

I know thats what you and every other ignorant TBD poster who even phatom the thought of using that word because they feel safe to use it instead of other words. I know what you really want to say NEXT TIME SAY IT AND LET IT BE KNOWN. Or better yet prove me wrong and tell me whats your definition of a thug?

Im from buffalo I know how people like you act and think I went to school with them you cant fool me just say it or turn you inside voice on. Marshawn is pretty dead on with what he's saying I can see it happening. Even tho he has done some things to damage he image, the stereotyping is somewhat racist.

I'd love to feel bad for him but he's dug his own grave in Buffalo. He should've came out like a bat outta hell after his suspension and he came back out of shape and sluggish. If he comes back and puts up a couple 100 games outta the gate, his good will is back and fans are shouting Beast Mode again.

I hope he does bounce back though. Although, if he's motivated and playing well and Freddy keeps up his solid performance, the Spiller pick will look even more puzzling than it did on draft day.

No it won't !! After the first game Blunder that Leodis pulled in New England and Fred having to fill in and play KR after Leodis was hurt & be the #1 RB it's a wonder he made it through the season !! He was over worked but performed admirably !! Now with Spiller in the picture they can give him kick off return duties as a specialist -Fred ,Marshawn (unless of coarse they use him to trade for a LT) will be the main backs & a sprinkle of Spiller in the passing & run game , then Fred the Q.B. Jackson in the wild cat --- we will have one bad a** back field !!!

Our O line is still the only thing that worries me !!!!

I see Gailey setting like a mad scientist with his new play book in front of him with this :censored: devilish grin on his face just unleashing his offense master plan on other defenses .

what happened to the house lynch bought? he would have no problem with the pits there. i like what he said there and i hope he means it. he got himself in some trouble and naturally people are going to give him some ****. people generally like to put other people down and thats whats happening here. if he goes out and has a 2td 100 + yard game week one with a win and all will be forgiven. i think he is showing some maturity and its about damn time. i bet his mama has gotten into his ear about some things.

I've still never heard a good explanation for why he's a "thug." I've got "he's black" and "he's got dreds" covered. :censored:

because he has a ghetto superstar, the world owes me a favor and I walk down the middle of the street and get pissed when a car honks its horn because they can't get past me mentality?

Anybody read that in the article posted out today?

I think its bull ****. The guy can't even have dogs now? I think that article gave Buffalo a bad rap. Yea he has made many mistakes, but we treat him like he has killed many people, and is involved in gangs, and he has not, and is not.

I kinda of feel bad for the guy, it sounds lke everyone has it out for him, he has done nothing but be professional about this.

I talked to Coy Wiresa agent a few years back, and some of these guys have never been tought anyhting but football. They dont know how to handle their finances or the fame.
