billsfreak Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 Thanks man...just speaking the truth. I am a white man...but I see no color. This is EXACTLY why my Father got out of the police force 30 years ago...and why my Uncle just retired 5-10 years ago from being the Lieutenant of Ontario County Sherriff's Office. MANY cops, especially the younger ones, are all pushing out their chests because they now have that "badge" and a gun on their hip. THEY think they are more bad-ass than the "thugs" do nowadays. It is why SO MANY people, including myself, despise the cops. I have NO respect for them. Even being a white boy fresh out of high school out where I live...because I wore my hat backwards, had earrings and drove a nice sports car...I would get targeted. However, the **** really hit the fan when I got pulled over in a gas station parking lot because I had a "Phish" sticker on my back window..."Suspicion of use or possession of marijuana," the cop told me, as he approached my car asking me if he could search my vehicle. I told him of course he could search my car, if he had a better reason to and provided me with a search warrant. I also swiftly reminded him that my Uncle was HIS BOSS, probably sitting back at the Sherriff's office waiting for this chump to get back with somebody...but it sure as **** was not going to be visiting Uncle Mikey on this night. Not because this jerkoff pulled me over in a gas station parking lot for a reason that is equally discriminating as pulling me over for being black, having dreadlocks or wearing a !@#$ing yamaka on my head. I reminded him who my Uncle was and who my lawyer was (also happens to be the most well-known and respected judge out where I live), and I then told him to get lost...he had no business even talking to me. I also got stopped walking home one night from a party because I was wearing a red bandana...and that supposedly represented me being a part of a gang...because there are so many "gangs" in Canandaigua, NY. (Not to mention, I am as white as Casper the Ghost, quite the prep and (at that time) I sported ZERO tats or markings.) The Canandaigua Police department is WELL KNOWN for being this way...EVERYBODY out here knows it. This is NOT a big city by any means. Many would argue it is a "City" at all...yet you see a cop every couple hundred yards. This IS what our society is turning into...sooner or later we won't be able to walk down the street to get an ice-cream cone without being harassed by a cop, asking us what we are doing, where we are going, who we are...etc. Just for good measure..."F**K THE POLICE!" "F**k that ****, 'cause I ain't the one for a punk muthaf***a with a badge and a gun, to be beatin' on, and thrown in jail, we could go toe to toe in the middle of a cell. To the police, I'm sayin' f**k you punk. Readin' my rights and ****, it's all junk. Pullin' out a silly club, so you stand, with a fake ass badge and a gun in your hand. But, take off the gun so you can see what's up and we'll go at it punk, I'ma f**k you up!" (Save the "Wow you're mature" or the "Hey, stay classy" comments...I couldn't care less what anybody thinks of this post, it IS MY opinion and I AM entitled to it. And if you're a cop...F**K YOU TOO!) Dude, you have some serious issues. You really need to seek professional help, and soon. Or maybe someone just pissed in your Honeycombs this morning, but something isn't right.
Peevo Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 For what it's worth I liked the read. I felt genuine contrition on Marshawn's part and it sounded like he truly accepts responsibility for his poor choices. Bulldog on WGR550 has made comments as well regarding the local police having it "out" for Marshawn. Not so much in the context that it exists in earnest, but that there are some credible people who have argued that he's a target based on little more than his reputation. A few posters above made reference to the fact, and I'm in this camp too, just make plays, stay healthy and stay out of trouble. I respect that Marshawn's done some good charity work here and in Oakland, but I don't need athletes to be my role model. I just want my team to win. And if Lynch can help do that, I'm all for it. At the end of the day, I'm rather indifferent to the situation either way. Lynch has done nothing negative to me, and I'd certainly be willing to bet any of the other posters on this board. We take sports so personally that Lynch getting arrested affects us somehow negatively. And I don't think that's fair to him or to us as fans. Either he gets his act together, makes some plays in 2010, or he doesn't.
BufflaloBeastMode23 Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 Those aren't things that make you a thug...just things that make you stupid. Let me break it down a little bit if I may. "The word thug is a borrowing from the Hindi word thag, literally 'a rogue; cheat; thief'. The original use of thug in English, with a capital T, referred to a member of a fraternity of professional robbers and murderers in India, who strangled their victims. (Hey, if goldsmiths and tailors can have guilds, why not thieves?) The British vigorously suppressed the Thugs starting in 1831, and the group died out by the end of the nineteenth century. " So basically for someone to be considered a thug they have to engage in vicious criminal acts or portray themselves as a person who would do so, using intimidation and/or threats if they don't go so far as violence. Does Matt Jones buying cocaine from an undercover officer fit the bill? No. Does Ryan Leaf getting caught with drugs fit the bill? No. Does Marshawn Lynch having unregistered weapons in the trunk of his car and walking up to people in malls or restaurants and taking a $20 bill out of their hand then refusing to give it back to them fit the bill? In some people's mind yes, in other people's mind no. There definitely are some thug elements to what he has done that Leaf and Jones didn't have... Not all law breakers are thugs, and not all thugs who are putting on an act or a front are law breakers... So Leaf not a thug for BURGLARY seriously wow...and if Leaf had drugs and so did Lynch but lynch is a thug but leafs not is ridiculous. Matt Jones got caught by the cops doing drugs C'MON thats not thuggish then your examples of thuggis behavior are off...and that whole taken $20 dollars is stupid i dont believe that. Think about it why not sue the sh*t outta him i know i would but they didnt plus there were no charges filed so i believe thats just false at all cost... I love your post but let me tighten you up on thangs, Marshawn made his bed and now he has to deal with it. This cops in town want to catch him slipping, that why he been pulled over so many times. The over stereotying is what cops been doing here for a long time . That part is racist I believe. He true to stay at home, hard to live like that but until they stall him out that's what he gotta do. Like maybe score more than 10 TDS might do the trick lol I agree with you he has done the majority of it so the cops are now more anxious to catch him slippin for notoriety. But for people to ignore it and just call it not racism is wrong....But if he like throws 3tds runs for 20tds and has 2,223 rushing yards the police will escort him to the games...LMAO..ill put $20 on that (pun intended) ... Not only is Leaf a thug, but he's got "thug life" tatted across his back, he's a hardcore honkey, for real. Jones was just stupid, but leaf is str8 thuggin it....FO SHO gettin in the reporters face back in the day, robbin SD for 20 mil, jackin bitches for scripts etc, Leaf has street cred, i'm not arguing with you on that ROTFL @ Hardcore Honky...but yea that is on the same level as tupac sh*t..LOL...Ryan Leaf is one goony mofo, but thats what i mean. People will be quick to call Marshawn a "thug" but when it blantanly in your face like Ryan Leaf, Leaf just gets called "stupid". When honestly leafs criminal record is far worst but he gets the *stupid* pass...sounds racial to me...
nana Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 I have heard first hand, from a VERY reliable source, than Marshawn has been stopped by the police at least 50 times since coming to Buffalo. But IIRC, the gun charge in California is the only time he has been arrested. I'm not even sure he got a ticket from all those times being pulled over (he got one for the hit and run, I know). The source relayed the time also mentioned in the article about being pulled over in the Ralph Wilson parking lot, although apparently this happened twice, not once. For loud music. It's entirely possible that he's made a couple really bad mistakes AND the cops and the city have it in for him. Those two things are not at all mutually exclusive, however many times people try to make it one or the other. He surely needs to do what he says he is going to do in that article. But there is also room for three backs on a team, especially when they are all different kinds of backs like Spiller, Freddy and Lynch. I'm looking forward to Lynch this season. Our run game could be fun to watch if Gailey is as advertised. Hey, I hope "Beast Mode" does make a serious comeback and really lights it up, but what is this cat doing even driving a vehicle? I thought he had his liscense revoked last year.

I would rather be a thug then accused of not knowing right and wrong and constantly putting myself in a negative light, even though he preaches " I AM SORRY, I WON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AGAIN" change the record dude and just run the ball and score TD's.

I see you've never been called a thug before so of cousre you'd say that. Because it was very idiotic of you to say that...
Webster Guy Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 Marshawn, you dont need to stay inside and do nothing. Go out and have a blast. Just stick to these basic rules: 1. You cant do drugs. Nobody can in the NFL. Its a rule all the teams have to follow, even the Raiders. 2. Don't drive drunk. They have this rule everywhere in the nation too. 3. You can carry a concealed weapon or possess a gun legally, but you have to go through the proper channels and apply for a pistol permit like the rest of us. By the way, you don't need a gun here in upstate NY anyway man. 4. If you get dogs, don't get a pitbull you dumbass. They maim and even sometimes kill kids. YES there are very nice loving pitbulls, but they are bred to be biters and some of them are mean as hell so choose another breed. Nobody in the association hates you, they just hate living next to a pair of pit bulls. This goes for everyone in the nation too. Including Oakland. 5. You can crank your car tunes, just don't be an idiot about it. Maybe turn the sub woofer down a little bit, it's up too much I guarantee it. 6. The way you repair your image is to go out and be social. Drink some beers, eat some wings, sign some autographs (dont forget rule #2 though). Go bowling and bar hopping and go to a UB college game or two. Stop acting like you're so oppressed. 7. Work hard, show up ito all the team stuff in shape and know your playbook. Be a good teammate and put the team first. Everyone loves a good comeback story, make yourself one. THEN you ask for a trade or a new contract. (duh)
CarolinaBill Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 ROTFL @ Hardcore Honky...but yea that is on the same level as tupac sh*t..LOL...Ryan Leaf is one goony mofo, but thats what i mean. When honestly leafs criminal record is far worst but he gets the *stupid* pass...sounds racial to me... I gave jones the stupid pass, cause well, you dont have to be a thug to bang out a couple rails in the car, just stupid, also, jones violated his probation for drinking a beer while golfing, again just stupid. Leafs actions were thuggish and menacing. In terms of using "thug" to replace a different word, you may have a point, but I think most people use it in reference to the weed, guns, hit n run stuff, criminal behavior, however, the word shouldnt be reserved only for black people who do such things. call leaf stupid and lynch a thug does kinda reek of racist overtones, which is why I said Leaf was a hardcore honkey, str8 thuggin to deaf....
PS 56 Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=AswU...nchfuture052310 Great read. Thanks for posting. I am willing to give a guy the benefit of the doubt. His play will say it all.
yungmack Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 While the article was reasonable enough, it did seem pretty biased towards Lynch. If the reason he appears to be having so much trouble is because of rampant racism (which is one of his underlying themes after all), the author could have gotten off his butt and checked to see how other black players are treated in WNY. If they don't seem to be having the problems that Lynch does, then maybe the racism is far less than implied by the article (and might have more to do with Lynch himself). An awful lot of current and former Bills rave about the area and continue to live there after their careers are over without so much as a blip on the news. The author might also have done some fact checking (as professional journalists are expected to do) by contacting the condo association where Lynch lives to get its side of the story. BTW, when you've got the kind of money Lynch has, and you work in an area where you can buy a mansion on the lake for less than the down payment on a house in Oakland, what are you doing living in a condo? Why doesn't the guy get his own place where he doesn't have to put up with all those racist condo owners and can have all the pit bulls, guns and anything else he wants while blasting his music? The supposed journalist might also have brought up the weirdest story about Lynch (and the one that first made me wonder WTF? about this guy). That is, to save money, Lynch would sneak a flask of booze into Buffalo bars to "charge up" the glass of pop he'd buy. Huh? I don't regard the kid as a thug. A jerk, yeah, no question. But not a thug. Which might be a character flaw but is not a crime. If it were, a good percentage of the population, including some regular posters around here, would be under arrest. As to poster comments that he seems to have changed, I don't see that at all. He's still going on and on about how he's just a regular guy who's being picked on, blah blah blah, suggesting it's because of racism or some quirk in WNY and not his behavior. Until he does a cold-eyed analysis of himself and the people he surrounds himself with, he'll continue to be who he is. And people will continue to dislike him for who he is, not what color he is. And you know what? If he returns to form and has a couple of great seasons, I will be cheering for him. And I don't think I'll be the only one. Doesn't mean I'll like him as a human being. But then, the NFL isn't about winning Mr. Congeniality, it's about "Just win, baby."

Mr. WEO Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 “My mentality is that it’s time to get back to work." "So now what do I do? I can only play so much Madden.” “I was staying in with my uncle Lee and my cousin Sam, and it got to a point where [playing video games] was all I was doing,” Lynch said. “And I got so good at the Wii bowling game I could bowl a strike from the other room." Time to get back to work, huh? "Now what can I do?", eh? Maybe go back next week?? How bout heading down to the OBD for a little face time with the employer? A little time learning the playbook and impressing the lockerroom with your dedication to reclaiming the starting RB spot? Wow, he really cuts a sympathetic figure.
GR8PRKN Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 That's a slippery slope...not sure what Lynch would turn up with after hearing that. Yeah true... I was thinking, he would be in shape! and be eligible to play all 16 games and produce 1,000 plus yards this year. But I may be asking a lot, if he does then the HOA should let him get a dog, maybe an easy going lab, which he could adopt from shelter and gain bonus points in the community..

GR8PRKN Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 Pit Bull attack In February, a pit bull mauled a 5-year-old girl in Terry, Miss., leaving her lifeless body in a ditch. Ten days later in Georgia, a 5-day-old baby girl was killed by the family pit bull in Rockdale County. The infant's body was found in its bassinet. In April, a pit bull named Sidon killed a newborn in a home in New Port Richey, Fla., while the baby's 16-year-old mother slept. Not all Pits are bad, some are great pets but I can se an HOA not wanting theese dogs around.....

Nice to see Marshawn is still lying. The Wiimote's range is very limited and unless that room is *very* tiny then it won't work in 'another' room or even 'across the room'. If there is no interference and good conditions then it will work about 15' away.

If im obsessed so are you because all you do is bash without a knowlege about what your talking bout..you kinda just ramble... Throws 3 TD's? He already has one passing TD that i know of imagine if he got 3...He'd have a motorcade to the games...LMAO...
Chalkie Gerzowski Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 he ran over an obese Canadian right when he threw the final strike for his 300. multi-tasking.
